I'm not going to convince myself it's the case, but maybe we came across a prospect that made us feel a little more comfortable doing this.  It may be a complete non-factor but there are some very interesting mid-round CB prospects this draft.  We've been finding quite the effective guys recently outside of just the 1st.  In a weird way, I'm excited.

I don't pretend to know more regarding draft picks etc. However some moves you can tell if they are emotional and if they make sense financially. I don't see the benefit of this move. Seems like it was fueled by emotion.

You guys do know, after the draft, there will be some players cut.  Remember the Panthers cutting Keshawn back in 2007.  It happens every year.  The guys will be older or have a big cap number but there will be a few guys out there that their team feels like they just drafted their replacement and will cut them before the team sees the rookie on the field at all.  Wait to panic after a few guys get cut.  Then panic all you want.

Cortez Allen was shaping up to be a stud.....then injury, and then the mystery of the Steeler backfield occurred.

True, but the shine started to wear off during 2014. He looked more like Antoine Cason than Josh Norman last season. I don't know, perhaps a change of scenery...

Possibly a guy like Jayron Hosley from Giants or Marcus Cooper from Chiefs.

You guys are in for a world of hurt.  Losing Norman hurts many positions.  Our safeties aren't the best, Coleman gets INTs but gets regularly burned.  Now he has to cover both sides (because people chose not to pass to Norman's guy).   We're going to be burned pretty bad back there, unless Boston comes in and is amazing or we get lucky in the draft.  Whatever CB comes in is going to be 50% as good as Norman as well.  We also now need the Dline to be better than they were.  Their sacks last year were COVERAGE sacks, and now that Norman is gone, the QB's have a lot more places to throw.

There are a lot of variables that have to go right for this to make sense.   Maybe DG is magic?  I doubt it.   This is going to be another Chandler/Bell situation I'm afraid.  I hope I'm 100% wrong though.

I think you're over reacting just a tad.  I would be willing to bet that a majority of our sacks were not coverage sacks.  Some were, yes, but it wasn't even close to 50%.  I'm not saying Josh wasn't valuable, because he was, but to go doom and gloom over one guy is kinda silly.

Not sure how you come to that conclusion.  Contact negotiations were bad, Josh not signing the tender...potential to be a distraction, time to move on. Now we have $13 million to invest in the team...not rent a player with no future here.
