Lets get this out the way, Panthers Are Not Going To The SB Without Josh

There's no freaking way Norman should be paid more than Luke, the guy had a great season last year, but damn man he's not worth $16 million a year! If you refused to sign YOUR paycheck, because you thought you deserved more, what would happen? I think a lot of folks have forgotten that before last year, Norman did absolutely nothing.

I hate when you post @beastson. You are one of the worst posters on here, filled with knee jerk reactions. You said the same thing when benewikere got injured last year and cursed the coaching staff for not taking him out.

can you stop posting to spare everyone else your idiocy?

Sometimes ppl will freak out when unexpected things happen, such as KB's ACL...

We have a decent chance to make it far in the playoffs, but our weaknesses will be exposed against the elite teams in the NFL. Everyone was fine with our bargain bin signings on the OL, praising them as the work of a genius, then the OL got predictably and absolutely throttled by Von Miller and Denver's D. I can see that happening again but with our secondary unless Gettleman can sell his soul to the devil and acquire a real #1 corner somehow. As of now we have a bunch of nickel and dime corners on our team at best, much like we had a bunch of scrubs on OL last year.

This just in...the Panthers ARE the elite of the NFL. Gettleman never uttered the words, "Super Bowl wins are overrated. Cut Norman."  Josh is not the difference between confetti and regret.

If you have watched the Panthers since it all began in 95' like I have, think about how special Josh Norman was.  The Panthers never had a CB put up remotely close to the season he put up.  The closest a CB in our franchise history ever came to Josh's level of dominance might be Ricky Manning and it was for two games lol.  Watching him last year was amazing, knowing whoever came onto the field was getting shut down, all the way up to the SB when he shut down DT.   A shut down CB like Norman is not easy to replicate, that's why we've never had one in our franchise history.  Sucks we only got to enjoy in for a year and a half..Best CB in franchise history shown the door in a year we are Super Bowl favorites and can afford him, makes sense.

I trust DG's judgement. I'm sure he has a backup plan. A trade for a CB or maybe a trade to solidify the Oline...DG made a decision to let Josh go, the Patriots did the same with THE BEST CB IN THE GAME (Revis) and they were fine! We will be also!

Remember DG's philosophy...hog mollies win games!

I know he's overreacting, but im shocked that so many of you are just shrugging this off and assuming Gettleman is making  the right move just because he's made good moves in the past. Let me remind you what just happend: WE JUST LET THE BEST CORNER IN THE GAME WALK AND GOT NOTHING IN RETURN. Our pass rush is garbage and our secondary outside of Norman was nothing special to begin with. In case your memory is a little clouded, go pop in some tapes of Weeks 3 through 10 of the 2014 season before Josh got the start and see what a doormat this defense was.

These shutdown corners dont grow on trees, and maybe im wrong, but the first step of making it back to a super bowl should be keeping the guys that got you there

I know a lot of posters on here get a raging hard on from watching our GM refuse to fold and stand firm on prices, but at the end of the day would you rather fork over a couple extra million more than you would prefer to ensure you keep one of your best players, or do you want to stand firm and lose him? Sorry but Im not gonna automatically give GMan the benefit of the doubt just because of his history. He's just as much to blame for this as Josh is.

We also had a pash rush

That garbage was sixth in the league as far as sacks go last season. The team had 44 total sacks on the season. Five more sacks throughout the season, which equates to .333 sacks per game difference, and the Panthers would have been tied for second. The Panthers averaged 2.75 sacks per game. The league leader, Denver with 52, averaged exactly .5 sacks more per game. How exactly is that garbage?

I'd like to dispute this notion that JNo can "shut down any WR in the game". 3 times we went man vs. the G-Men. First OBJ toasts Norman and drops a would-be score, with the 2nd and 3rd plays vs man resulting in TDs for OBJ (who JNo was covering). Sure the Giants were in comeback mode, but you can find guys to excel in zone with coverage help for a hell of a lot less than $16 million a year.
