Panthers rescind Norman's franchise tag...

The next time Gman tags a player, it will be signed in about a minute and a half, if they want to stay.

No one wants to sign the tag. No one wants to be tagged. Josh just got his dream scenario. Everyone now knows they can bully their way out of the tag simply by missing voluntary workouts now.

Same people saying Jno sucks, are probably the same people who said that about Hardy,Smith,And Williams sucked.

the former panther hate is mind boggling

And the same ones proclaiming him the best CB in the NFL a few months ago.

This is the NFL. You can't keep everyone. Even with the salary cap rising, we were going to have to let some key players walk because there simply isn't enough cash to go around. I liked JNo and wish him nothing but the best for the future. I do think this had a lot to do with cash and our future ability to sign key players. I'm sure every position on the team has a value, and if Gman thinks he can improve the team's overall value by letting Josh go and spending that cash elsewhere, I'm going to have to trust Gman. It may backfire, it may not. Either way, Nippleshorts knows way more about running an NFL team than anyone on this MB.

Yeah,  I don't get that either. If he'd already had a huge contract from us,  I might feel differently. This is his opportunity to cash in.

Josh must've gave DG the impression he would hold out into camp and possibly the season. No way you just rescind even if you can't get a long term deal done. Let him play a year and groom a replacement. None of this is adding up and we are going to miss the poo out of his play. Scary.

Honestly though, this is more money to be able to extend Benji, KK, Ealy and Star among others down the line.

You cant keep them all.  We wanted to keep Norman, but he doesnt seem to want to be here unless we break the bank.  That is not a criticism of Josh, just reality.

This gives us more flexibility to re-sign our other core players.

Dissapointed but I am not jumping off a cliff either.

Jesus. We finally get a great corner for the first time since Gamble and he gone in virtually a year. Same goes with Hardy. We start getting these elite players like Seattle but they fug up or we let em go. Can't catch a god damn break. Not to mention we played one cheater in a Super Bowl and the face of the NFL in his last game in the other. FUG our luck.

I would have thought such a move would have been better after the draft.  DG must have a back up plan.

DG knows talent and the value of that talent. He obviously thought there was too much of a gap between what he thought of JNo's value versus JNo's agent.

I think JNo is an very good DB but the system and players in the system made him look much better. He will get his coin on some non-playoff team. DG will pay his own what they are worth and not more. DG wants guys that will want to win and not just want the coin. I love JNo but he was more interested in the pay day than compete for a championship.

I want to believe that I truly do but Gettleman's statement suggest otherwise..

"After a number of conversations with Josh’s agent we realized that a long-term deal was not attainable. We thank Josh for all his contributions and truly wish him well." - GM Dave Gettleman

Maybe Gettleman just doesn't believe he'll be back. Doesn't mean they wouldn't accept him at the right price.
