Panthers rescind Norman's franchise tag...

I don't see how a long term deal and the tag were connected. He turns 29 this year. I was pretty content to just have one more year put of him and then let him walk. His value may have dropped because of his age next offseason anyways. The only way it makes any real sense is if Josh was going to refuse to play this year, which I have a hard time envisioning.

It makes sense if either he was unwilling to play under the tag OR he was going to be such a problem in the locker room once he signed the tag that it was going to be a problem.  Frankly, I could see  either as the real situation.

It's all good. Gettleman will make some bandaid signings, we'll do good until the playoffs, then some QB will will torch our trash secondary for 500 yards and 6 TDs in the NFCCG or SB. You know, kinda like what happened to our OL in the SB this year. In Gettleman We Trust.

Honestly, it's just as likely Gettleman's luck finally runs out as it is that Norman is not worth what he was asking for. Both only have one great season to hang their hat on, but of course everyone thinks Gettleman is and will continue to be a genius because Gettleman finally had some success with the core Hurney drafted and that Norman will return to being a scrub now that he's not a Panther.

Thank you Josh and best of luck to you man!

The writing has been on the wall since last offseason when we couldn't reach a deal with Josh, after his exceptional play this year.....it wasn't happening. Sorry folks but that is not Gettleman's philosophy.

Also from my point of view Gettleman did Josh a solid. What if Josh had a horrible year next year? Think any team is shelling out 15 mill a year for him then? Hell no.

Hyperbole much?
