This isnt us turning on him or Gman being a dick. This is pure greed by Norman. We award him 13 mil, which was a huge increase on his salary and he snubbed his nose at it.

Most players don't like the franchise tag, so that part of it is understandable.  I don't think it's greed, necessarily.  Norman truly feels he's worth what he's asking for, and we can't tell him how to feel, even if it does seem silly.  Gettleman is looking out for the locker room, IMO.  This is a distraction, and keeping that locker room they way it has been is priority.

Why does anyone have to be villainized in this situation? This is business, people.  G-man did not want to pay Josh what he believed he was worth. Norman bet on himself and thinks he played himself into the jackpot. We will see if he is right.

The fact is that the chasm between what was offered and what was expected must have been so wide that Norman probably felt insulted, or at least that what Getty was offering was unfair and didn't meet the litmus test of good faith in his camp's estimation.

This could clearly be a case of Norman playing above G-man's budgetary expectations. As such, there is no need to get all salty at either one of them.

Agreed.  I certainly hoped he would come back this upcoming season.  Gettleman made a decision that he feels in in the best interest of the team, and Norman made a decision that he feels is in the best interest of himself.  I don't see any reason to get mad at him or Gettleman, at least not until we see what the result of the field is.  I do think that sometimes fans get to vested in individual players and get hurt feelings with that player leaves.

I mean I understand Josh's thinking, he is 28 and this is his last chance at the big money, but this is pure greed. He should of played under the tag and had more leverage for a long term deal the next season. this will backfire on him

You're coming at this that it's all his fault, he wanted Panthers to legitly negotiate with him and they refused and they shortchanged him again. The most likely truth is they knew he would refuse and word is they didn't want him on any type of long term deal that was significantly higher then the 7m a season offered last offseason.

This line gets so old. Norman has a very narrow window to make his money in an extremely violent sport. He should try to cash in.

Guys, rescinding a franchise tag doesn't happen often in the NFL. JPP blew off his freaking hand and did not have his tag rescinded.  This is going to be a huge story.  Prepare thy anus.

It is his fault he wouldnt sign the tender. Gettleman always said he wanted to work a long term deal. You cant when both sides were that far apart. Who made it that far apart on the asking price....Josh did. This is totally his fault.

By Bill Voth. And he then retracted that comparison after looking more into the situation. He wasn't comparing them in the way that makes it sound bad, but in the way wear Josh and Greg both seemed more into themselves than the team - and would cause problems in our locker room which is a huge no no in the Gettleman/Rivera era.

At this point in his career, there isn't honestly any way for someone to compare a player to Greg Hardy without it sounding bad. Which is why Voth changed his tune.

The thing with Greg is, he is a fantastic athlete obviously, but he is missing something upstairs. Josh however is clearly an intelligent dude.

josh is being way too damn greedy, 13 mil is plenty for his play. I honestly believe he doesnt have enough on the resume to jusitfy 16 mil. I love Josh's play, but this is a dick move.

theres got to be a reason behind this. I trust every move DG makes, including this one
