Eagles trade for #2 pick

Definitely interesting. Would go against what Gettleman has said on multiple occasions about trading back. I'll be very interested to see if Gettleman has the same "3 dimes vs a buck" response tomorrow when he is inevitably asked about trading back at the pre-draft press conference. If he doesn't you can be damn sure he is thinking about moving back. If he does then who knows. He could be lying/smokescreening. He's done it before.

No.  Could move down two spots, get the same player, and get a day 2 pick (at MINIMUM) next year for doing so.  You'd give up the 5th year option but in theory the player taken next year would be on the last year of his rookie deal during that 5th year.  The Browns would then have their qb(big difference) on the 5th year option and a day 2 pick next year would be a small price to pay considering they now have two first rounders next year.

I dont think Philly is taking a qb.  they need to keep bradford up right. I see them taking Tunsil

They still have Jason Peters for another year or two and just signed Lane Johnson to a bajillion dollar extension so he can be the LT after Peters retires. They aren't taking OT.

Holy crap, I've been wondering that but didn't know if Gettleman would give up that 5th year option. I guess as long as the price is right.

I know, and once everyone knew Gettleman's draft philosophy, trading back wasn't really a thought.  Now to hear, they would "love" to move out...   Maybe he thinks, since we're picking so late, he can get some gold in the top of the 2nd.  Maybe he also trades our original 2nd to move up again, and sift off the top a couple of times.

Anyway, I asked him about the comment, and just now noticed he responded, so...

@mrnawalters they're aware of what the team behind them needs. but who knows how draft will play out until then

We probably wouldn't get a day two pick this year or next year just to move down 2 spots. Especially to the Browns who are currently obsessed with stockpiling picks. A 4th is probably all we can get for that move which I don't see Gettleman agreeing to.

Disagree.  IF they like Cook or another QB, teams have proven they'll pay for a QB, especially one that'd have a 5th year option.

You don't think the 5th year option would make up the difference?

Not really and honestly it doesn't seem like the Browns really even want to draft a QB this year especially if Lynch is gone already which is very likely at that point and they only have Cook and Hackenberg still on the board.

In 2014, the Vikings moved up from #40 to #32 so they could draft Teddy Bridgewater and have the 5th year option. All they gave up was a 4th to move 8 spots. This is 2 spots. Sure, we have a little leverage because of the Broncos behind us but I really don't think it's enough for a team that's using analytics to throw all their data out the window and overpay based on the numbers. It's more likely we get a 5th than it is a 3rd in my opinion just looking at past history of trades and trade value charts. The Chargers only had to give up two 5ths to move from 17 to 15 last year.

I've posted repeatedly that John Schneider has been getting his @$$ kicked since 2012.  Even though Teddy sucks, the Vikings won the trade.  The Chargers may have only moved up 2 spots and 15 is much higher than 30, but 17 was still the first round (w/5th year option) and they weren't ogling over a QB.

If the Browns held firm on only offering next year's 4th then I'd throw in next year's sixth for one of their 2 3rds next year to massage it out.
