Sterling Shepard Highlights

Not that he has a problem with it, but I'm pretty sure no one drops anything in their highlight videos.

"The premier set of hands in college football belong to Oklahoma's Sterling Shepard. Shepard has dropped just four passes on 225 targets over his three seasons, including only one drop over his last 162 targets. However, Shepard is more than just a great pair of hands.

In 2014, he was targeted 35.2 percent of the time (a relatively high number, showing the confidence his quarterback had in him) and had a catch of 25 yards or more once every 6.5 targets (Pitt's Tyler Boyd averaged one every 10.5 targets). Shepard's soft hands, elite focus and ability to get open will make him a favorite of NFL scouts."

I know he has great hands. I was more commenting that presenting a highlight video with a comment about how great is hands are doesn't really accomplish that much.

I'm a huge fan of this kid.  Beyond the amazing hands, he's an incredibly mature route runner.  Watch the things he does with his head and eyes when he makes his breaks and double moves.  If given the opportunity, I think he could come in and start for us day one.  KB + SS  + GO = just win baby.  If we somehow snagged him AND Hunter Henry, our receiving corps would be set for a decade.  My ideal draft would be (in no particular round order) Shepard, Henry, Cash, Nassib (or some other good potential DE).  I think it's doable.

Its sad that so many on this forum don't believe a star receiving weapon for Cam is that big of a priority

To win the Super Bowl we need a Good Shepherd ...

I'm sure that we wouldn't mind a flashy new wide out for Cam, but we've got a solid WR core. And we got to the Superbowl last year without our #1 option. I really like Sterling Shepherd, but receiver is just not a position that is being prioritized this year.

We lost the Superbowl because Cam couldnt get time to throw the ball.

How do you figure.  Just go and look at the players we've visited with.  We've probably met with and worked out more receivers than any other position.  I think receiver is actually being highly prioritized.  The only question is when will we take one.

Cotchery took two scores off the board by himself.  The line didn't give Cam much time to throw, but the receivers let him down when he did have time.  Talent/Depth at WR is certainly an issue.  Just look at how many WRs the Panthers have interviewed ahead of the draft (more known interviews than any other position).  The interviews alone tell us that it is likely we draft a pass catcher at some point in the upcoming draft.

This is gonna sound silly to say--but if Brandin Cooks was in this draft, I'd take Shepard over him.  For not being a for sure "1st rounder" by the usual suspects/websites, he's the most universally liked prospect I think I've ever seen by our fan base.

I won't lie, I'll be jealous of who gets him...unless it's iun our division or the asshat Eagles & 49ers.
