Sucks for Smith.  Hate it for that kid, but it's been rumored for awhile that he may never be able to play again.

The Jack thing smells like a team desperately throwing out rumors hoping to cause him to drop.  If there were significant concerns about his knee, I think word would've leaked out long before now.

I wonder how much Smith gets from insurance if he falls in the draft or isn't picked? It'll probably be a few mill. Gotta be smart with that, because it's not looking good.

I know I'm mostly alone on this, but I'd love to grab Jaylon Smith if he falls to us at 30.

Sit him for 2016 and then he can learn from TD in his last year before TD retires. It's worth the gamble to get a blue chip player if he comes back, which I believe he will.

His insurance cheese will be spent within two weeks.

His situation is a lot different than a typical blown knee.  He's dealing with nerve damage.  That's a completely different ballgame.   Some team will take a chance on him at some point t in the draft, but he's probably off of a lot of teams' boards, maybe even most teams'.

If you are a team that is consistently good, and the GM and HC have the owners blessing on everything, I can see taking him.

Unfortunately, he is going to need some time to heal, and you have to know that it's going to be a gamble....but then again, someone spent a 1st rounder on Manziel, and everyone knew that was a bad idea.

Good thing we have some of the top NFL surgeons right in our area to do our due diligence for us. If it's true, they're off our boards. If it's a smokescreen, we won't fall for it.

Even if there are concerns about Jack's knee it sounds like they're more about the potential longevity of his career, not immediate.  Even if he slips, he's long gone before #30.

That's about the opposite of what we would want also. We need a long term guy if we get a LB, not an immediate impact one with long term questions.
