He's an odd guy. Eccentric. Honestly before the combine I personally had him pegged as a potential top 15 pick. Dude needs an interview coach, apparently, and to learn how to not say "no" to scouts wanting to see drills. One part of this story though could be prophesy for us:

Quote

ROBERT NKEMDICHE WANTS a pet panther. That's how he plans to treat himself when he signs his rookie contract. He wants to take care of his family, and he wants to buy a panther

And he's watching Instagram videos of domesticated panthers. He likes the black ones, likes how their eyes glow. He stares at shots of people playing with panthers, wrestling with them as if they were dogs, nudging faces, fearless when they open their mouths. "It's sick."

Is he insane? possibly. Did he pretty much destroy the Alabama offense in last year's game against Ole Miss? YES.

Granted, I'm an Ole Miss homer, but if he is somehow still sitting there in the 2nd round we have to take a chance and gobble him up. He's not Greg Hardy insane. Keep him away from the microphones and the synthetic weed and he should have a very productive pro career.

Many teams have a lot of concerns about not only him but his brother being a really bad influence on him, and as long as his brother is in the picture he will have off the field issues.  I dont know how a team can ask a guy to cut ties with his flesh and blood in order to do his job, but it sounds like that is really one of the pivotal choices for this guy.  As tempting as it would be to grab this guy, I just dont see his issues changing without something drastic happening.  If we draft him, and I really doubt we will, I hope I am wrong, but I dont get the sense this guy will change. No doubt about his talent though.

I wouldn't take a 7th round flier on him. It'd just be a waste of a pick and almost certainly some terrible press shortly thereafter.  Hopefully we've learned our lesson about drafting bat poo crazy defensive linemen from Ole Miss.

Granted, it wouldn't look good in the media, but what's to say it would be a waste of a pick? Dude has the talent to be a perennial probowler. I'd take him in the 7th with our locker room and coaching staff. That being said, he's probably not on our board, so that would never happen.
