Josh Norman is NOT going to do Offseason Workouts

Josh played last year without a long term deal, he can't risk two years in a row.  He has one opportunity to get his money, and it's this year.  The team has all the leverage in this situation, and he has no choice but to try to call the bluff.  I really do think he'll sign a long term deal with us, but it'll come down to pre-season.  If I'm his agent, I'm not letting him play without a long term deal.

He sacrificed for the team last year, didn't whine, and played out his contract.  He's only asking for what he's earned.  Give the guy a break.  I don't see any of you taking pay cuts.

July is the deadline per the league.

Not by a long term contract. I'm not saying I like it but it's what players are advised.

I get it, but by reports he's headed to workout with Cam without signing anything.  His agent should advise against that.

if it's about being cautious and not, well, the money.

And if J.No signed and would be participating you wouldn't even be saying this

It has been my opinion for a long time that Josh is benefited by a great defensive unit.

Von Miller is just plain better. There is really no one who would argue that.

he has a contract staring at him in the face. its the tag. sign that or he wont play in 2016.hes holding out for money, not to avoid injury.. its pointless. Gettleman is not budging because hes pouting at home. you got tagged.. get the fug out there with your team. we have big plans this year. this aint that big of a deal but if this bleeds into OTAs and training camp, he needs to gtfo with his Franchise Qb money idea. it wont be hard to find a decent zone corner to replace him.

That's not true that his only option is to sign that 1 year contract or not play. He obviously wants more than 1 more year and likely more than the current offer. Once he signs the tag tender, the team has no immediate need to work on any different terms (compensation or duration).  He gives up any leverage to get anything more. On top of that, the only injury protection in most NFL contracts is for the CURRENT YEAR'S SALARY. That means if he doesn't sign but goes to OTAs and gets hurt, he gets nothing. If he signs, he'll get the 14 million or so but if you think a 25-30 million signing bonus is possible for a multiyear deal, you might not be to quick to want to gamble on the injury bug not landing on you during OTAs.

Lotta sandy ass vag's in this thread.  Nothing wrong with what Norman is doing.  Even leaders hold out when necessary.  Jon Beason did it and he was a helluva leader.  Norman knows this is probably the only big big contract of his career and he needs to get as much as possible.  Can't fault him for that.  When it's time to show up, he'll show up and he'll play his ass off and give everything he has, just like he has for the past four years, and continue to be one of the best two or three CBs in the game (above average LOL).

Best post in this whole thread. This is Norman's one chance to get life-changing money. He is a real person who has to think about his future just like anyone else. Just like Gettleman has made a business decision not to sign him to a long-term deal at what Norman wants, Norman has made a business decision to hold out of OTA's.

He's not under contract with the Panthers. Why would he be there? Comparing him to Von Miller isn't apples to apples. But the bottom line is he is an All-Pro, top 5 CB who singlehandedly won 2 games at the start of the season (the Saints game was unquestionable and the Jaguars game was too IMO) and set the tone in a defensive backfield that went into the season unheralded for the most part.

Norman had by far the best season any DB ever has had for the Panthers last year. Of course he benefits playing with guys like Kuechly and TD, but he is a bona fide star and it is embarrassing to see people bashing him for doing the same thing anyone would do in his situation. There's absolutely no way the Panthers make the SB without Norman.

I trust Gettleman to do what's in the best long-term interests of the Panthers, but Norman is not doing anything wrong.

To be fair von plays on a stacked defense as well, it makes it very hard to double him because its some other players to deal with on that front 7. Take them away and you can  focus on him and take him out the game. Let's not act like he doesn't have help.
