Is something seriously wrong with me, or do I just have severe health anxiety

Anxiety is a bitch. It is an endless circle jerk of fugupedness. Anxiety causes you to worry and have panic attacks, then you worry about having another panic attack which increases your anxiety thus another panic attack. I thought I was having a heart attack because of one too. The mimicking is awful.

My #1 suggestion (because I'm a slight hypochondriac myself) is stay the hell away from WebMD and Google. By the time you get done with those you'll think you only have hours to live.

Yes it sounds like you got an anxiety disorder.   Get a prescription for generic valium.  At about $ 2 for 30 pills it cant be beat for quelling those weird feelings you get sometimes.  And you may want to try an anti depressant as well - those can work for generalized anxiety disorder/

And as someone who used to be scared to death of undergoing surgery like you are and has been put under 3 x in the last 7 months 2 of those for significant surgeries I can say that it isnt as bad as I feared especially if you can pop a valium or two the morning before the surgery - just let your  anesthesioligist know ahead of time.

i would rather have depression than anxiety. With anxiety it feels like you are losing your mind, going completely mental. It's hard to function with both but with anxiety you care too much which is wayyy more uncomfortable then being depressed and just not giving a fug about anything IMO.

sleep and water are super fuging important. As well as confronting any issues that you may have cast aside. Our minds have this ability to make it physical when we don't confront those issues.

I'm not one to take meds because I really do believe we have the ability to overcome mental disorders (obviously not severe ones) through conditioning and good habits. But if you feel trapped you need to go to the doc and get something even if it's only short term. Good luck man.

Talk on a deeper level to close friends.  Many times we aren't close to people and we can make the smallest thing a volcano.  But when you are open with your life to trusted people you will be amazed how many are going thru/have gone thru the same things.

Most certainly major stress. Do you have particular stressors in your life at the moment? Especially worried about a test or event or date? Etc?

When I am stressed over things like that, I am often very irritable and a messy home or works space makes me feel like I am itching out of my skin.

Having said that, do you drink a lot of caffeinated products too? That always makes it way worse for me.

I also take colder showers than I normally would, because I am burning the hell up when I get out and walking around getting ready. The cold showers help my anxiety stay down better and it makes me much less annoyed and flustered when I'm not feeling like I am on fire.

What really helped me overcome my last bout was doing something I didn't normally do, I went out and stayed out until about 2am, and just did things I don't normally do. It was a breathe of fresh air and a nice step out of the rut.
