Fear the Walking Dead, Season 2

Definitely enjoyed Sunday's episode.

Apparently the ring leader of the trio that came on board is still alive, saw him in the promo saying "Connor will come for me" or something like that.

I laughed and was thinking, "if you know where Connor is, then Daniel will find out."  He has no idea what he got himself into.

One more point - I was telling my wife, the interesting thing about this show, and I havent figured out if it was good or bad yet, is that there soesn't appear to be one sole protagonist.  Because of that, there is a lot of different things the writers can play with from character to character.  Again, I don't know if that's a good or bad thing.  Are they purposely drawing it out to have a main character step forward, or had they not fully fleshed that stuff out and now are trying to develop them all at once?  It could make for an interesting dynamic going forward...

Nick is the main character. One of the first people we see waking up, like Rick, in a bad situation. People love redemption.

Yeah, they're still doing stupid stuff, but that was possibly the best episode yet, outside of the break into the military camp and the subsequent break out.  A lot of inexplicable things, (travis reads a boat manual for 10 secs and is suddenly a mechanic, plane crash - "let's go ashore even though there's probably walkers everywhere").  But, it's picking up...

There are people that are very mechanical. Did you see that truck he drove? Dude knows how to turn a wrench. For example, the first time I had a tv cut out. I opened it up and saw capacitors that didn't look normal, pulled the old ones, and replaced with new ones. I've never been trained in electronics repair but I know how to solder pipes.

The character of Nick is about the only reason to watch.

But the stupidity still runs rampant.

*on radio*

Alicia: Any cute guys out there?

Guy: Oh haiiii, want me to come over?

Alicia: Sure, just totally don't try to take our boat or kill us, k?

Guy: Ok. I promise.

Alicia: Pinky promise?

Guy: Yep.

Alicia: *giggles*. Ok, here's where we are, xoxo xoxo.

Nick is definitely the best character. And at least Alicia is pretty to look at haha

I like this show.  It's not must watch tv like TWD, though (at least not yet).  But of course we've had several seasons to grow and care about TWD world and characters.  I don't mind the slow burn...in fact, I think it is necessary to show a different perspective and to demonstrate how this is a different existence these characters are living.

One issue I do have in comparing the two shows is that TWD characters have so much chemistry and feels almost like a family, while FTWD has a little stiffness between the characters.  And it's not because these characters just met, even at the beginning of TWD, the characters still had a natural chemistry you don't see here...hopefully that will change the longer the actors work together and build rapport.

As for the characters themselves:

Travis is the protagonist.  He's FTWD's version of Rick.  Like Rick, he's trying to stay civilized and keep things as normal as possible.  However, also like Rick, I think once gets this new world, he'll become harder and adapt to it's harshness.

Madison is this show's annoying Lori.  Hopefully she'll settle down and not be so whiney, otherwise, she'll be on my personal chopping block.

I hated Nick last season, and wanted him dead, but sober Nick is in the early stages of turning into a badass.

Strand is interesting, and I'm still trying to figure out where they're going to take his character.  I can see him being who he appears to be...a bit of an unscrupulous guy just trying to get where he wants to go, but I can also see him turning into a Governor-type villain/leader.

I think Ophelia will turn into this show's Carol.  A seemingly superfluous character that eventually does a 180 and turns badass and becomes central to the show.

Now Daniel I see as the anti-Hershel.  Where Hershel was full of sage advise, and was a solid moral compass, I see Daniel all about doing what needs to be done...without conscience.  He simply doesn't give a poo about anyone or anything other than his family (and I see him eventually accepting the group as part of his family).

To be fair in regards to how the characters interact, they are not as far into the outbreak as Rick's group were when we met them, at least I do not think they are.  They are still learning to trust each other.  They also have Strand (much tougher to trust than anybody in that group) and Daniel (much less trusting than really anybody anywhere) so that will take some time.  You could be right though and a chemistry issue could also have something to do with it.

I agree with your assessment of the characters as well.  Daniel is my favorite at this point, followed by Strand and Nick (hated him last year as well).
