anyone have active person calorie calculator that they know of?  I'm trying to figure out how many calories I've been burning while I've been biking this past week, and from what I'm finding sounds awesome, but I've not seen the weight loss that would coincide with this many calories being burnt and I'm not nearly as hungry as I should be for burning 2000 calories today alone.

so I'm wondering if because I've already in decent shape if I'm burning a good bit less than what its telling me.

See my above post.  From what I have read you really dont know how hard you are working your body unless you know what your heart rate is while you are working out.  You might be fooling yourself into thinking you are doing more than you really are.

By the way I did some fasting for weight loss last summer after seeing a program on it on PBS.  It is not a total fast but instead you go one or two days a week only consuming 500 calories on those days.  I averaged 1 1/2 pounds lost for every day I fasted.  I am in my mid 50 s.  The hardest thing about doing the fasting for me was no alcohol.

If I wanna bulk up and build muscle, how much should I been running.

Since HS, I've been running 2-3 miles before every workout. I've been lean, but arms/chest never got huge. Just ripped but still small.

This past year it was running 4/6/8 miles 3-5 times a week.

Thought about it and finally realize maybe it's bc I was running too much. Should I just quit running all together? But I just hate the feeling of having to catch my breath after every stairs walk.

I would start running sprints instead of long distances.

keep it up dude, once you start seeing results and make a habit of everything - you'll never go back. this is my progress picture from last year when I lost a bunch of weight.

This and just eat a poo-ton. That was working for me until I quit working out and kept up the eating....

An easy and healthy protein source is Kefir. It's basically a yogurt shake with all sorts of beneficial bacteria and 11g of protein per cup. I'd have some before bed for some long-lasting protein.

I was getting strong and feeling good about dem gainz... then we had a kid and now I have a broken wrist. Guess I will be starting from ground zero in a few months..  I'm going to try and start squatting (probably front squat because of wrist) at least 3 times a week and maybe add some cardio and core.

    • Strange, every news article and tweet I just searched all mentioned waivers. It is definitely his sixth year of at least 6 games. All I was trying to think of earlier was at the vet min could he beat out Bryce in camp next year lol. He's kinda got the old Darnold issue where he can obviously launch deep balls and qb run at a level Bryce will never achieve, but it sounds like he would be content being like a Josh Allen backup who doesn't throw the whole game plan out the window if he has to come in for a series or two. If we had him and for some reason still wanted to start Bryce he would kinda do what Justin Fields was doing the other night with Dangeruss, coming in for designed runs and maybe some play action/triple option rpo things to go deep. That would be so obvious and sad though. At least Russ can still sling it 40 yards in the air with a flick of the wrist
    • Too late to edit above but the quote is from this Diane Russini article in the Athletic: https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5941684/2024/11/23/russinis-what-im-hearing-the-day-the-jets-fell-apart-and-the-broncos-rallied-belichick-best-fits/ Okay.. there you have sorry I left that out the first post.  Also waivers keep the contract intact. That is the major difference in released and waived. It's all in that link from the other post.
    • Okay so I am reading something in The Athletic and it says that Jones had to pass through waivers. So I don't know. I looked this stuff up when we were number one there all offseason and I thought it said 4 years in the league got you vested, as they call it.  Vested gets you out of waivers as I understood it. I probably got something wrong, but when I think about the slack quality of journalism these days I wonder about that. So I went and looked, again. Well, well.  For everyone: "When a player has accrued at least four seasons in the NFL, they are considered a vested veteran. When these vested veterans get cut, they are released and their contract is terminated. When a vested veteran is released, they are an unrestricted free agent that can sign with any NFL team, and the team that released them doesn’t need to provide any additional compensation." It runs it all down here, where the quotes came from: https://www.profootballnetwork.com/waived-vs-released-nfl/ As far as Jones, the team turned down his 5th year option so I knew that meant he had 4 years in, because they re-signed him anyway, after turning down the much cheaper extra year.  The Athletic is owned by the New York Times so I shouldn't be surprised. That paper was an institution once upon a time but they let their standards go.
