Hardy is going to be a Panther get used to it

That same prediction was made last year, probably by the same people. They also predicted he'd sign for minimum.

I'm about as worried about that possibility now as I was then.

(i.e. not at all)

The only reason I say this is because I see a 0% chance of Hardy not playing with some team in 2016

And if he plays for any team in 2016 ... the only one it possibly could be is the Panthers . He isnt the risk to mess up our locker room like he is the risk to other locker rooms

Mainly cause our locker room has said they'd welcome him back with open arms . If Hardy were to sign anywhere but here in Carolina, it wouldnt end well . Carolina is absolutely the only place he can salvage his career

The players don't pick who signs here. The GM does. Specifically, the GM who said he doesn't want any "time bombs" in the locker room.

This team is in business to win a Super Bowl, not to save Greg Hardy from the consequences of his actions.

And no, Hardy doesn't make this team better. Seriously committed football players make the team better; not half-assed, dimwitted party animals.

As to Hardy signing elsewhere, it's being reported that teams are shying away because of how he behaved in Dallas last year more so than his past indiscretions.

Hardy reportedly was partying the entire season, constantly pissed the team off by being late to everything and slacked off the last part of the season while the team was trying to push for a playoff spot.

They wasted 13 million dollars on that little experiment, and it bit 'em on the ass. Nobody else wants their ass bitten, so nobody's offering the kind of money Hardy thinks he's worth.

And for the "he'd play here for free" crowd, Hardy is said to have had offers, but considered them too low for his liking. Now he's pissed because Aldon Smith got a deal and he still hasn't.

Insider Buzz: Hardy upset about Smith's contract with Raiders

Bottom Line: It doesn't matter how much you want it to happen or how hard you wish for it. It's not happening. And this fantasy notion of the kind of man you think Greg Hardy is couldn't be farther from the truth.

Same GM who, on MORE than one occasion has said you can never have too many pass rushers, and he will not turn down a good pass rusher.  Same GM that brought back Frank Alexander after TWO failed league drug tests in the same year.

Until he signs somewhere, and he will, it continues to not only make sense, but be a possibility, however admittedly slight.  Especially if the draft doesn't give us a DE as BPA.

Damn, for somebody that hate's and will never forgive Greg Hardy you sure do love these threads.

Mercy and forgiveness bro. Nicole ain't mad.

Hardy also isn't the total monster you say he is either. The truth is in the middle.

Money makes women and men do stupid things, even the smartest

I don't think that's unreasonable either.  With millions of parents forbidding their kids from playing football for a myriad of reasons, you have to be a little nutso to be an All-Pro DE.

Same GM that said goodbye to Steve Smith for being a problem child. And where exactly is Frank Alexander these days?

We've already got Charles Johnson back healthy and you saw what Kony Ealy did in the Super Bowl. Throw in the there are plenty of options to get another good pass-rusher without the team having to worry about them doing something stupid.

We're not exactly desperate..And certainly not so bad off that we'd have to deal with a head case like Hardy.

Youd best enjoy those old Greg Hardy Panthers highlights, because there aren't going to be any more.

If he plays for any team this upcoming season, it wont be the Panthers.  And that "if" is a big if right now.  The cowboys were extremely unhappy with him last year, and not just because of the photos.  His performance after the photos were released, didn't justify what they were paying him.  Being out of shape and late for team meetings hurt a lot as well.  After the Rice incident, teams are hesitant about taking on someone with a history of Domestic violence, even if they are playing very well and not a locker room disruption.  Poor performing players who are a lockerroom disruption have even less of a chance.  If he does end up playing, the team that he ends up playing for will have him on an incredibly short leash.

^ agree "what they were paying him".  But from here on out its value signing or else. I swear I think some would rather he go to Seattle or New England for the vet min trying to prevent his friends from winning a ring instead of here with his friends winning a ring.

Oh, so now it's money's fault.

Cool. I can add that to the growing list of other people and factors who are really responsible for Greg Hardy's actions...

...rather than, you know, Greg himself.

Quote

I'm gonna start referring to this crowd as the IEFBGs, short for "It's Everybody's Fault But Greg's".

The rationale applies to pretty much everything:

Hardy crashes his motorcycle while driving recklessly. "Not his fault! He was just having fun!"

Hardy gets criticized for saying something stupid. "It's the media's fault! They were baiting him!"

Hardy surrounds himself with people of questionable character. "It's those people's fault! They're a bunch of leeches!"

Hardy tweets a picture of his speedometer while driving recklessly...again.  "I don't know whose fault it is, but it's not Greg's fault! And anyway nobody got hurt!"

Hardy gets arrested for domestic violence. "It's that crackhead whore's fault! She's just looking for money!"

Hardy gets convicted of the charges. "It's that feminist judge's fault! And legally, that never happened so you can't even talk about it!"

Hardy is unemployed.  "It's the NFL's fault! Or maybe it's Ray Rice's fault!  Either / or, but whatever, it's not Greg's fault!"

Hardy has a mediocre season in Dallas. "It's the Cowboys fault! They're a crappy team!"

Hardy acts lazy, never shows up for meetings, half asses his effort on the field and effectively disappears for the latter part of the season. "It's the Panthers fault! He'd be different if he were here!"

Hardy açcepts going on the exempt list (basically a paid vacation) rather than fighting it. "It's Richardson, Rivera and Gettleman's fault! They should have fought harder for him"

Hardy spends his gamedays on the exempt list going to strip clubs and partying rather than supporting his teammates. "It's Roger Goodell's fault! He only suspended him to save his image!"

Hardy comes off like a stupid douchebag in an interview. "It's ESPN's fault! They're just out to get him!"

Hardy suggests his rap career will benefit from the attention that he's getting because of his arrest. "Greg just needs better handlers!"

(Yeesh)

Boy, it sure is amazing just how much bad luck and how many mean people this sweet, innocent, upstanding guy has had to deal with in his life, isn't it?  Kinda sad.

I'm sure somehow, some way, all of this is probably also the fault of me and the other people who are against signing him back. If we'd just accept that none of this stuff was ever his fault, then I'm sure everything would be okay. Greg would somehow gain wisdom and sound judgment, he'd come back to Charlotte, play for free and lead the Panthers to an undefeated season and Super Bowl victory.

But it won't happen, all because me and others like me just won't accept that Greg is blameless.

(I feel so guilty)

For the record, money doesn't change you. It just shows who you really were all along.

And NFL contracts aren't handed out for "mercy" and "forgiveness". They're handed out to people that can help you win a Super Bowl. Unreliable people don't qualify.

Randy Moss may not have won a Super Bowl thanks to David Tyree, but its safe to say that that troubled, unreliable soul with multiple franchises helped the Patriots.

Ray Lewis now actually works for the network that's trying to crucify Greg Hardy.

Heck, even Moss was a better teammate and contributor than Hardy was last year.

(yeah, I know, blame the Cowboys; it's everybody's fault but Greg's)

Moss in Minnesota and Oakland was an awful teammate.  Greg admitted in the interview he was responsible for his actions and he had made mistakes.

The Steelers are another favorite next year.  Is Ben Roethlisberger's sordid past gonna stop him from trying to keep us from glory in Super Bowl 51?  He's represented for years THE FACE of a franchise that JR said he wanted us to someday be.  At a minimum, his party hardy (pun intended) pictures are all over the internet along with DOZENS of high profile athletes among all sports.  Again, Greg even admitted he was not without sin, but it is truly unprecedented how unjustly villainized he's become.
