We can hop on it easily because we can read...

And i can read the rest of that article (you should try this too) where it said there were inconsistencies in Holders story and that the prosecutors didnt even have a transcript of what she said happened nor would they give one prior to the settlement. Sounds like her and her team walked away from a situation they were not gonna win....but "Hardy paid her off so he is guilty."

How does this post not qualify as bing and moaning about him?

Your point is your tired of everyone bing and moaning about him, right?

No, I google and moan about.

It's the superior search engine... except for porn. Bing is for porn and nothing else.

That article says a whole lot more than just Hardy paid her off. It also speaks to the weakness of the case and credibility of Holder. But, let's just skip over that part.

Funny because even Charlotte's perhaps most respected and well known attorney George Laughrun said the same thing before the bench trial.

Sure, she abused drugs and had a troubled past. If you think the trial wouldn't have proceeded had there not been a settlement, you're fooling or lying to yourself. Take your pick.

No one is saying the trial wouldn't have proceeded. More than likely, largely due to the political climate, it would have ultimately proceeded to a jury trial. You may believe that a jury would have convicted Hardy, but I don't. It would have been an unnecessary circus where taxpayers money would have been wasted, and both parties would have paid on several different levels.

I might be in the minority, but I do believe he is innocent. I don't believe for a second that he threw he on the futon or in the bathtub or whatever. You just listen to the 9-1-1 call and that doesn't jive with all the mannerisms of the call. He is like "Get this crazy coked-out bitch out of my house, PLEASE!"..

Then watching the live twitter updates come through during the trial - I felt it was a wrap until the sentence was handed down and was floored.. Yes, he was stupid to be in the situation, but I never thought he did what he was accused of.

...and......I don't want to offend anyone.....BUT....white women have a long....LOOONG...sordid history of falsely accusing black men of any class........ of assault, rape..etc.

Just saying. I need to see more evidence that he actually did this.

I've read the entire thing numerous times. Unfortunately it wasn't relevant to you being defiant about Hardy reaching a settlement, which is the post I was replying to.

Well you just did. I take total offense of your ignorant statement. Unless you got some statistic to back this stupid statement up, I will take this BS as your personal belief nothing more or less. Speaking from personal experience, I came close to being assaulted on the job and was threatened with such physically bodily harm that it would make yours and everybody's hair stand on end. So damn tell me that crap.

What's really sad is the amount of people who don't believe in the basic tenet of American jurisprudence that you are innocent until proven guilty. Moreover, what is also sad is that people rush to judgment, pick and choose what evidence to consider, and ultimately base their opinions on incomplete information, stereotypes, and misguided perceptions.

No wonder the justice system in America is so uneven in its determination and execution of punishments in America for similar criminal activity, much less the exact same offenses by different individuals and populations based upon gender, economics, ethnicity, etc.

This is my entire point in this whole Hardy situation. I don't give a crap about Hardy at all. He may be guilty of what he was accused, just as many here are assuming. But they're ignoring the possibility that he is innocent, which is ridiculous. I don't know what happened. I wasn't there that night. I've seen the pictures, read transcripts of the court hearing, heard the 911 calls. And the evidence doesn't seem to point towards Hardy beating the crap out of her as everyone is assuming. He may be guilty. But the evidence I've seen doesn't really indicate that, let alone prove it beyond a reasonable doubt. I trust in the principles behind our justice system of innocent until proven guilty and I don't make assumptions about innocence or guilt and then judge a person based off of that. And while I get that Hardy being an NFL player is on a much bigger stage and the general public for some insane reason loves learning about celebrities' and stars' personal lives, this should've been handled strictly in the justice system. The league never should've been involved in punishment, and the details surrounding what happened and the court case never should've been reported nationally or on the minds of random NFL fans everywhere. It's none of theirs or our business. Unfortunately that's reality in today's society.

As a practicing, but highly imperfect, Christian I can assure you that hypocrisy is rampant within the Christian community where a large percentage of the church community do not practice what they preach.

Looks like some reading comprehension issues in here.  DV in 25% of homes literally means that there is not DV in most homes.  75% to be exact....

The way in which you worded things made it seem like you were implying that DV is not as prevalent in the south as compared to other areas. Of course DV isn't in the majority of southern households because It's not in the majority of all households. But I get what you're saying, you were just being a cheeky bastard.

Somewhat, but I literally said:

Quote

I wouldn't guess it's less existent than a lot of other areas, but he's probably thinking of the overall more respectful culture of the South.

meaning I accept that it is just as prevalent (or as the graphs showed, more prevalent) in the South as other areas.  But it is also accepted (as far as I know) that the South is considered more respectful in general, so it's not a stretch to make the [wrong] assumption and connection that he's making in his ill advised comment that being raised in the South, where culture teaches us to be more respectful, taught him not to hit women.

It was a dumb comment, but people were trying to say that he said "DV almost never happens in the South" which isn't what he said.  He said it doesn't happen in most homes, which is true.
