If you haven't kept up with them, Killswitch Engage got their original singer back a while ago and their newer material is good... If you like 5FDP you will probably like this:

I don't really listen to them much anymore aside from their early stuff, but thought I would share for those in this thread that might like it.

The End of Heartache was the first metal album I ever purchased.  I've moved on from them to bigger and harder (giggity) things, but it'll always hold a special place in my heart.  I didn't even know they had a singer before Howard Jones.

lol saw them two weeks before he got booked down here in Charlotte.  Bummed me out...they always put on great shows.  I think they came through with For Today and The Chariot and maybe The Devil Wears Prada.  It was an amazing show.

Alive or Just Breathing is probably one of the best albums, start to finish, ever... you should get it ASAP

Man you guys have awful metal tastes lol. Big hair metal, pop metal and bands like System of a down and disturbs are more rock slightly nu metal. Not knocking nu metal, I love nu metal. It's all subjective though.

Slayer

Lamb of God

Pantera

Chimaira

Gojira

Otep (sevas tras mainly)

A day to remember (little punkish but has some great songs)

Korn (mainstream but everything Issues and before is good stuff, I'll take them over Metallica going mainstream)

Skinlab (disembody mainly)

Slipknot (Iowa and before, newer stuff isn't very metal)

Kittie

My Ruin

Hacride

My favorite metal bands. Some bands I love are close but aren't exactly metal, like Godsmack or Disturbed.

uhhhhh are you stuck in like 1999 or something? I still would classify at least a good 2/3 of that as nu-metal...

I've still got my old Slipknot and Kittie VHS tapes somewhere... lol...

I'm not knocking your tastes, but don't knock other people's when you proceed to list bands that are pretty much groove based pop/nu-metal.

I've always hated the argument of what's metal and what's not and who is more bad ass because of the band they listen to.  I still don't know all of the distinctions between all of the various metalesque genres.  There's a lot of sub genres.  If you like a band that has some sort of screaming/yelling/singing with some hard, bad ass instrumentals (which is what I mainly care about), then you're okay in my book.  I'll listen to it and give you props for listening to it because, in the end, we're a small niche of people compared to those who like pop, alternative, and rap.
