NFL players compared to WWE superstars.

Found a slightly interesting article on NFL.com that compared NFL players to current WWE Superstars. With Wrestlemania coming up and it being the off season I was kind of curious as to everybody's opinion on this and who they would compare some of our guys to. Two of our own are already on the list. This is my first time creating a topic on here so I apologize ahead of time if this turns out horribly lol.

Quote

Cam Newton is Roman Reigns

O.K., hear me out on this one. Newton is one of the most talented performers in the NFL. But it seems like no matter how amazing he is; some people aren't going to cheer for him. Newton had an MVP seasons, and people are still like, "evs" and boo him anyway. Kind of like Roman Reigns, right? I feel like both superstars would be better served just to say, "screw it" and embrace their inner heel (bad guy). Which I feel is going to be the case this Sunday. (I'll have my predictions on Sunday via Twitter.)

Josh Norman is Kevin Owens

But if OBJ is Ziggler, than it just stands to reason that Norman would be Owens, right? Fight Norman Fight

That's who I would compare cam to. I'm a huge Roman fan so it works for me haha.

Not a huge wrestling fan but I watch from the periphery just enough to keep up and Roman has long been a favorite of mine. This or John Cena would be the perfect fit for Cam. The guy everyone just loves to hate but for no real reason. I could argue Cam is more Cena though with the way he gives to kids.

Why do any of you watch that wrestling crap

Because it's pretty cool to see. Those dudes are flying through the air and stuff on live tv. Sometimes they don't miss a beat. A lot of it is improved too. The ending is scripted sure, but most the match they make it up as they go along. Most of the time they don't mess up and I appreciate that. In context it's more real than any tv show out there. I'm not a big fan anymore, but i still like it. Just because you think its crap doesn't mean it is.

It is TV drama basically.  Like any show.

I watch because when they get it right it can have these amazing moments that are like watching any show that builds to a satisfying or devastating conclusion, only you get the real time audience reaction to those moments.

There are moments that drive emotional responses that are equal to your favorite team winning or losing a big game.

Like when Bayley finally won the NXT Women's Championship last year.  It was a storyline that was built over 2 years that finally got the payoff and there was a real visceral reaction by the fans.  So much so that a women's match was named the match of the year in NXT (and was probably best match in all of WWE last year)  Not best women's match.  Best match period.

You can read this thoughtful piece on that match/rivalry and get an idea why wrestling at times is simply great.

Those moments are pretty awesome even when there is a lot of crap in between.   Sami Zayn had a similar moment the year before whe he finally won the title.

I watch wrestling for those types of moments that you dont really get in other TV dramas.
