Sports Authority at Mile High

"Mile High"  would make a great name for a Denver brand of weed.

Also,  I'd much prefer someone smoke weed and drive as opposed to drink and drive.

You would have to leave for work about 3 hours early because everyone would be driving 15 mph.

It would only prove that ethics go out the window when it comes to sponsorships.

I don't want to be in any way condescending but I'm honestly curious to hear why you think it would be unethical for the stadium to accept money from a marijuana dispensary for naming rights.

I don't want to speak for him, but I assume it has to do with the ethical standards the league has set for itself. The league forbids marijuana use regardless of the state of residence of its members. Players from Colorado and Washington face suspensions from positive tests for marijuana. Allowing a  recreational dispensary to pay for naming rights of a stadium would be an unbelievable level of hypocrisy.

I have wondered if the reasoning, for the league's stance is cut and dry. It seems obvious (to me at least) that if it is legal in the state, it should be allowed by league rules. Could the problem be that the NFL thinks it would be a competitive advantage for teams in those states? If players are willing to throw their careers away to smoke weed, seems that they would definitely favor signing with a team where they could legally smoke without fear of repercussion from the NFL.

Man...where are the puns =(

On to the moral and legal issues, but regardless of one's position on the pot/beer argument, it's going to be a while before we see a change.

I would love to see it become legal across the country, get a nice healthy sin tax (like alcohol), and watch the tax coffers fill up while folks on weed charges in jail are able to rejoin the rest of society.  It's going to happen one day, but we're just going to have to watch other states wrestle with it for a while.
