I tried to read the Poky Little Puppy to my son and he threw it at me and said "read me Little Blue Truck, bitch."

My wife must be reading him Andrew Dice Clay's autobiography again.

If so.............then he would have asked for some "Poems"

My buddy is watching my GSD for me for awhile so I can find a house and all. He has a pit.

Let's just say my German has pretty much took over the house in a dominant fashion. Pinning it to the ground when it gets out of line.

Just saying....pits aren't the most badass of the breeds by any stretch. Pits are wonderful dogs if you don't punch them in the face constantly.

Doesn't surprise me at all.  I've always found GSDs to be more dominant and aggressive than pits.  If you have a weak owner, they will take the alpha role, real quick.

I raise AKC beagles and I've yet to see 1 of them  ever "go off"

That's because they are AKC; you are breeding a good pure line and weeding out undesired characteristics. I don't know about "go off" but I know a few beagles that bite people - these are not registered and have not been bred to standard.

Pretty sure AKC doesn't recognize pit-bulls; maybe UKC? If there was a pure-bred "pit" it would theoretically have had human aggression bred out of it. There would typically be zero tolerance for attacks on humans since humans would be stepping into the dog fights to break them up and corral the dogs. Other than treating these dogs like crap, breeding in other breeds to increase size and aggression, is a major problem.

There are three breeds of pits recognized by the AKC. American staffordshire terrier, staffordshire bull terrier, American pit bull terrier.

part of the problem with perception of these dogs that any mix of these dogs with a larger breed (say a bull mastiff or other guard dog type) is listed on police reports as a "pit bull". If it's a hundred pounds, it ain't a pit bull.

For sure. One reason there are more "pit-bull" bites is because any one of like 30 breeds or mixes gets called a "pit-bull". Pretty much any type of bulldog, mastiff, boxer, dogo argentine, cane corso, Catahoula.. etc. etc.

On the weight. ...40- 60 pounds or so seems typical. I haven't seen many pits larger than that unless they were fat.

Aggression is a breedable trait. They should neuter and spay the whole population so they die off humanely but cannot breed anymore.

You're advocating the extinction of an entire breed because, like all breeds, some individuals have attacked humans? Why stop there? Labrador's have attacked people before, let's kill them off "humanely" as well. Hell, let's just get rid of all dogs while we're at it; they all have the trait for aggression. Humans shouldn't get to choose what species/breed dies.

Um we bred them to their physical specs and yes aggression can be bred not just learned...it's not their fault. Pit Bulls are not a naturally occurring species. And yes I'm advocating the elimination of a breed of dog and doing so humanely. Thanks for inviting yourself into the discussion but you've been scienced.

There are just way too many shitty humans in this world who create mean pits.

In my experience though, it's the smaller dogs who can be some of natures biggest assholes.

If my Chorkie/Maltese was 80 pounds instead of 6, I would fear her.
