Black Sails

Best show on TV.  It's Game of Thrones without all the magic and ice zombie mumbo jumbo and too many characters and plot lines to track.

That season 3 finale was the best hour of TV I think I've ever seen.  Great battles, excellent dialogue between characters, and the birth of Long John Silver.  

And the Bear McCreary score is just phenomenal.  That guy is a genius of cranking up intensity.

watched the first season but not the last two, first season was good.

If you liked the first season you will LOVE the next two.  It really took off after the first season of building up the characters.  It really might be one of the best on and if you like GoT, you'd love Black Sails.  I'm not saying they are the same, but the epic characters, good action (not overdone), and a gritty show fit that bill.   It's really one of the most underrated shows ever, if it was on HBO or somewhere other than Starz it would be a massive hit.

It doesn't have the deep mystery GoT has.  But the drama and action is up there. Just not the oh craps moments.

I have been wanting to try the show out again. I started watching season one episode one (it was an edited version IIRC) when it first aired and I couldn't stay awake.

But, I am a fan of nautical stuff, especially pirates...

Speaking of which, you'll get to meet some more pirates on GoT this season...

IMO season 2 wasn't good. season 3 is much better though.

Yeah. Mostly fictional but does use some history.  

Has most of the famous Pirates in fictional and non fictional

Uses the historical context of pirates as the background.  Could have done a better job with Blackbeard.  But the rest of the characters are great.  Only Pirates I wish they would have had was Kidd and Morgan.

Watch it asap!  Epic, cinema quality stuff.  And the Flint-Silver interaction and how it ties everything together is fantastic.  Let alone the bridge it creates moving into next season
