Kevin Norwood...the invisible man

He was our best receiver in the postseason and our only good one in the only game that mattered before getting hurt. May have been a different game if not for the concussion. Not sure if you're stirring things up (I know you don't typically do that) or if you have real info on this but I don't see how Philly wouldn't be safe.

Perhaps Philly was our best receiver in the postseason, perhaps, but Ginn was our best receiver last season by far. As much playing time as Philly got last season, his production was spotty. Moreover, I didn't see a "good" game in the Super Bowl by any of the receivers, but that's purely a matter of opinion. If he didn't suffer the concussion, maybe he could have pieced together a good game, but the fact is that injuries (perhaps concussions, in particular) are becoming an issue for Brown.

I don't know that @Jeremy Igo was speaking to Brown's roster spot as much as he was speaking of the pecking order, but it will all come out in Gettleman's final wash  near the end of August. Like always, he had better be ready to compete.

I'm hoping we either get someone like Doctson in the first to be the 1b to KB and Funchess will be #3 (at no point last season did he look like he will be ready to be a starter in the near future) with Ginn rotating with Funchess based on situations OR we get someone like Sterling Shepard in the second or third to be #3 a lot guy and again with Funch and Ginn rotating out wide based on situation. What I'm hoping we don't do is spend a pick on someone who is more of a project (like Funchess was). The bottom of our WR corps is fine. It's the top that needs new blood.

My biggest concern for Philly these days isn't whether he'll catch the ball or not, it's his health. He seems to get banged up pretty easily out there and that's not something you really want out of one of your top receivers.

Not questioning Philly's toughness but I worry his body won't hold up another whole season without missing considerable time.

I get the impression Norwood is supposed to take Cotchery's spot. Not that confident he will but I've been proven wrong before.

Personally, I'd take a good tight end over a receiver right now. What is behind Olsen is much less confidence inspiring than what we ended up having behind KB.

I wouldn't count out a guy who has a "Piss Excellence" T-shirt. I feel that when we traded for him, he felt a lot of pressure because of the situation here. some of that may have been self-manufactured, or perhaps there were real pressures. I do believe that Rivera decided to reel things back regarding Norwood's immediate expectations, choosing to give him the time that he actually needed to develop.

I don't know what if anything we will get out the guy, but I do believe that he will get an opportunity to compete.

Most would agree Dave has won the respect with his draft history, correct?

Norwood was picked few spots before the Boston pick in the 4th. I'm about 99% sure if norwood was there, he'd be the pick. No insight, just my opinion .

Now if that doesn't help, Rickey seemed to really want to get his hands on norwood. Rickey has done wonders during his time here, so if he's a fan I'm willing to give norwood more time.

Why anyone would call a 4th WR safe on any roster is beyond me. If any WR we like is on the board at any point in the draft, Brown takes Bersin's inactive list spot, at best.

because  hes getting better each year if we didn't  cut him last year what makes you think hes not safe this season?

Because we have no idea what will happen in the draft and the rest of free agency. It's very easy to upgrade your 4th wide receiver.
