I seem to be the only one who's not super familiar with this guy's talent. Why hasn't he had any visits up until now and did he have a bad year or something last season?

Steeler's pretty much didn't let him play for most of the beginning of the season, some say because they didn't want to give up their 4th round draft pick according to their trade had boykin played 60% of their snaps. He's had a good year at Philadelphia, and was considered one of the best nickel corners during that time period. He's proven to be effective when the Steelers let him play the last few games of their season. He's gonna be a solid signing.

As a Georgia fan, I can tell you that he was a fantastic player at UGA. I believe I remember him not only being a top notch corner but his return skills was off the charts good. I even think he lined up at RB on some plays at UGA.

Over all, great player and would bring a big boost to our secondary and special teams.

He was part of the Chip Kelly induced exodus in Philly and was traded as a conditional pick so the Steelers were strategic in how they used him and his contract ended.  It seems many teams view him strictly as a NB (one of the league's best) but because of being a NB, wouldn't want to pay him like an outside guy.  The thing is, he fits really what we need and this could be a solid pairing.

I can see him fitting with the players we've got as well:

Interesting. He had good numbers and statistically, a nice year.

If we were to sign Boykin, does that mean it will be a McClain/Boykin/Robinson battle for nickle?

Boykin would destroy them in a position battle. If he signs, he's the clear cut starting nickel.
