Falcons D better with Courtney Upshaw

Good depth move for the Falcons but it's a reason the Ravens took Upshaw out on passing downs.

The Falcons defense pretty much had nowhere to go but up, but Courtney Upshaw is not a scary signing. Relative to the rest of the Falcons DL maybe, but not overall.

Ravens fans I've seen have said he was a below average player for them.

he's an edge setting run stuffer that was pulled off the field on passing downs.  you can go read about how the ravens used him anywhere.

what's more ozzie newsome, a guy who might have a decent eye for defensive talent or so i've heard, cut him loose

if stats don't matter then does the way he was actually utilized in games matter?  because that's what everyone is discussing.  the fact that he doesn't have much of anything in the way of pass rushing stats is only a component of that.

Those really would be equivalent signings. Of course if we had signed Coples it would look like we signed a guaranteed all pro on here.

Coples was given up on twice and cut. Even, Rex Ryan the coach that drafted him didn't want him in Buffalo.  

CU, played 4 years for a great defense. The team had little cap room and used it to address other areas. CU won a College National Championship, was the MVP of the game and won a Super Bowl.

They also brought in Dermevill and feel apart when T Sizzle was lost for the season..

Come on the video made you chuckle a little, right? Atlanta has this on there webpage now. 

Seriously, I think CU is a solid player. I believe I fear the scheme he'll be used in the most, the Seattle scheme. 

They made Bruce Irvin, a small guy from WV a beast in that scheme. Look what they did with Michael Bennett. Nobody wanted him, they took him and now he is a beast.
