Those decisions were made by Gettleman. The decision of who starts on Sunday comes down to the head coach, who even in spite of his strengths, will still consistently field bad players over better players because they get rowdy in training camp or perform other stupid cliches.

Gettleman also took in consideration the opinion of the coaches, Rivera will start the best palyers if it wasn't for the injury Williams would have been the starter.

I'm just curious, who all have they signed: Mack, Sanu, Shelby, Upshaw, and Weatherspoon? Not bad signings but not great either.

In the division the Falcons scare me the most. Sorry and I am sure I will catch some flack but those signings make them a lot better team.

mack is the best signing in that group i think

i was trashing their OL earlier this month and actually went and did some research after bartin i believe it was disagreed with some of the stuff i had said.  they actually have two legitimately good tackles in ryan schraeder and jake matthews.  add alex mack into that and that's 3 out of 5 OL positions locked up.  that's probably going to be the most improved unit on that team.

The question we have to ask ourselves now is does Ron have it in him to have an actual open competition at RT this TC or does his open affection for mike remmers even in spite of the fact that he's a a bad player net the guy the job and the opportunity to cost the team more games

Remmers is not the first right tackle to be abused by Von Miller. He is an average RT, and that's it. He's not bad, he's not great.

edits the title and post to say its a good signing after reading responses

I think CU signing by itself is about as impactful as Ron Edwards was for the panthers in 2013 besides the fact CU is 26. However, when you look at what is around CU, plus the other FA the Falcons have signed the picture changes. The title was edited because it was made known that free agent updates have there own thread.

To make things right I will self impose the loss of 3 scholarships and give back 5 pies :). Sorry man.

That's the first good pickup they've made. Remmers needs to step the fug up.

Remmers needs to be replaced. I think causing two fumbles in the most important game of the year should be a sign of it's time to move him to backup.

It is my fervent wish that Williams make Remmer depth where he belongs. I know that Remmers did well the last year and a half. And I truly appreciate the effort he gave. But if Williams can win RT, Remmers has more value as depth. So come on Williams.

So to sum up. Don't let Boykin get away. Bring in Boldin. Then 1 more DT, and hubby be happy. Roster looks good, with the draft wide open. Go BPA with no cares.

Or...wait til after the draft. Then fill in what holes you have left with FAs.

All I know for sure. Is with a Healthy KB coming back. And a usually solid Gman draft. We should be better than last year. I can defiantly live with that.

That s a question casual fans and uninformed folks might ask. . But knowledgeable folks know that Rivera will play the best guy he is given. No one get coach of the year two of the last 3 years and not know how to evaluate players or place them in the best position to shine.

    • So you believe that Levis had a better day throwing deep because one of those was a TDs? Asking for clarity on that as it was already clearly demonstrated that Bryce would've had a TD had Moore not dropped it in the back of the end zone. The entire purpose of their metric is to look at the throw and grade that because the QB has complete control over it. That was made abundantly clear from the video provided prior to that. Nobody is trying to manifest him as a top-10 player. He had performances during his return from benching that measured in the top-10 in different metrics. The issue at play is that because those stats support Bryce's progress (and refutes that his ceiling is his floor), that you and other people that don't care for Bryce being the Panthers' QB are going out of your way to either a) ignore factual data, or b) cast uncertainty on the methodology. There's no actual interest in stats and facts like as you mentioned previously. All of the non-PFF info, like passing yards in a single game, is also not entirely reliant on the QB. That's one of the points that Jimmy has hammered home but y'all continue to try and sidestep: that the ability to throw deep relies more on elements like timing rather than physically having a howitzer for an arm. Yes, arm strength does play a role but let's not be coy: the entire narrative that Bryce is not a capable deep ball thrower is 100% rooted in the same reasoning that folks had for thinking he wouldn't survive an NFL hit... bro is too smol. We have plenty of data (AND film) that show this. Whether or not the people that don't want it to be true stop clinging to what they want to believe instead is up to them.
    • This isn’t a bad deal for the right people. Sure not everyone has that kind of money to burn. But $10k for everything including all travel (that includes a private flight), lodging, meals, tix to the game? Meeting former players? It’s a lot of logistics that if done solo would take a lot of time to coordinate. When I was younger I spent my time to save money, and now I spend my money to save time.
    • Displays of luxury spending like this are the only thing that will wake up the poor peasants currently shouting at each other. At least, that's my only way to optimistically look at this trash.
