could make alot of sense if we take this kid at 30 , he was houstons best db , nice size corner at 6 foot 1 , 4.3 40 time , great coverage and he can hit . if i could compare him to any nfl player im comparing him to norman they have a similar style . he would be a good insurance policy if we let norman walk next year and he can be a great addition to our secondary this season . would you support gettleman taking him at 30?

I've said this in another threads but I don't believe Gettleman values DBs as first round picks, unless they guy is an absolute stud- his philosophy seems to be shoring up the d-line and then getting savy cheap veterans for the secondary

The biggest question for CBs in the modern NFL is how well can they "understand" the game.  So I read an interesting article about Mackinze Alexander (Clemson) where he broke down the how and why he made decisions.  That was really interesting, and make me value guys who can quickly learn tendencies and play structures of opponents.

That's something Norman has become quite skilled at these past two years.  Does anyone know how well he can recognize plays?  While playing CB is said to be an easy transition from college because it's more of a do rather than a thinking position (like running back), I'd rather get a guy in the first round who not only brings the physical tools, but also the mentality to the table.

Good eye, Julio.  I have been crushing on this CB for a while.  He is a first rounder to second rounder.  I would move up in the second to get him if he fell 10 spots or so.

He did a solid job against Keyarris Garret, who In my opinion, is one of the best WR's in this draft. However, the only way I see us taking a CB in the 1st is if Norman is traded.  If Norman stays, we're still taking a CB, just not in the 1st, probably in the 3rd, and that will probably be Harlan Miller.  Just my two cents.

I like reading all the different opinions on these guys because I have next to no idea who any of them are. But since we are in such a great position (team wise not draft position) and DG has proven that he drafts well...I literally have no opinion on who we take this year. Which is kinda anti-climactic. It was fun to get interested in guys and debate about who would make more of an impact or fill more of a need. But I have trust in DG so this year I'm simply learning about who might be around when we draft and trust in whomever DG drafts.

Additionally, I've come to believe 100% that anything on the internet about these kids is not to be trusted. Teams make their own boards and history has proven that the guys who make our boards year in and year out are looking at things that are important to THIS team. And with how much Rivera puts into fitting in to the locker room, I simply cannot trust Mike Mayock or whomever to grade how WE value a guy. There are too many variables that we will NEVER know. So I no longer stress about it...but that makes me a little sad. :)

The part about his biggest concerns are when his back is turned, and the ball is in the air. Considering this is a passing league, the ball is going to be in the air quite a bit. If this is the weakest part of his game, that does sound ominous.

Maybe we can get a CB that has eyes in the back of his head. I am now worried about not having enough CBs that can play with their backs to the QB. lol

Cam loves teams that play man over zone. Precisely because the CBs spend a lot of time with their backs to him.

And RR plays a lot of zone precisely so his CBs can see the QB.

But cereally. I want a DT in the 1st. After that, I don't care what Gman does after that. This kid sounds intriguing for sure. But there are quite a few of these type CBs this year. There is lots of talent in the 1st 3 rounds. If things go to plan. We should be adding at least 3 talented kids. I can live with that.

I do wonder what Gman's list looks like. What positions he values over others. We know he loves him some Mollies, and LBs. But what does he truly feel about WRs, and DBs? So ima gonna give a shot at picking his wish list.

1. D-line. His heart beats a little faster when he just knows there is a D-lineman on his radar.

2. O-line. Right up there with the D-line. Especially at OT. But if he has 2 guys rated similarly 1 a DL, and 1 an OL, he will go D-line 1st.

3. QB. He knows that you cannot be competitive without one. Thankfully, he has no worries in that department.

4. LBs. Both he, and RR, love these guys. They can cover a lot of mistakes if you have good ones. If they had their druthers. They'd druther have 6 of these that can all play. For us, you can never have enough LB talent.

5. WR, and CB. Even after 3 years, I still have no clue how Gman really feels about these guys. Sure he has drafted KB, and Fun Fun the last few years. But was that out of necessity? Or were they really BPA? I have a feeling it was more the former. We needed some young talent. So he brought some in. But it is still unclear what he thinks about these 2 positional groups.

He has never taken a DB before the 5th round. And KB, and Fun Fun are the only 2 WR he has even drafted. Are they like the red headed step child? Or is it more that the talent just wasn't there at the pick? With the real possibility of losing Josh next year. I would not be surprised if we actually do draft a CB higher than normal this year.

Sorry, got carried away. Again. Thanks for the patience.
