Did you not understand the post? I don't know this guy, so why anyone would try and use him as an example of G-man's brilliance is beyond me at this point.

That's exactly why. And the fact most of us don't know him is absolutely meaningless and proves the point even Further.

Why?

At least I had heard of Gradkowski and Soliai, and I know they're worth their weight in gold. This guy? I am assuming that he is really a diamond in the rough, insurance if things don't work out in the draft, and/or adequate depth behind Boston and Marlowe.

Depth behind our depth...

We will see.

I keep up with the NFL more than most, and that's exactly why I said in so many words when we signed Coleman that he might just be better than most expected. This guy? I don't expect him to follow a similar trek, but who knows? I still say it's way too premature to crown this guy as the epitome of G-man's alchemy.

I don't question Gettleman's moves.  It seems to me that we would not be going after a guy that didn't fit our mold especially coming off the IR.  This guy must have some attribute that would make us sign him.  Worst Case scenario he provide competition in training camp.

Mitchell and Coleman are proof that Gettleman knows what he wants and sees in a Safety.  So I am all aboard with this signing.

BTW the video of him getting blown up means nothing.  That's like telling JJ Watts to learn to get off blocks when Turner pancaked his ass.  These are professional athletes, sometimes they are going to lose against other athletes.

WEAKNESSES

Robinson can misread plays at times and although physical, will fall off tackles occasionally.

In his defense, those DT's are hard to stay on without a saddle. Most safeties prefer to ride a guard.

IMO, this signing is competition, depth and more than likely a ST player.  Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if he isn't on the roster, come September. DG has an eye for talent and has hit some HRs with Mitchell, Coleman, and the UDFAs, but he's also brought in some irrelevants that didn't pan out too (Fast Teddy, Todman, etc.).

Minimal commitment and if he can beat out Boston or Marlowe (doubt it) than we have yet another Gettlemagic gem.  Considering who's left on the FA market, I can really see us drafting one in the first 3 rounds.  Maybe one drops off of the post June 1-cut tree too.  I just have a hard time seeing Robinson playing next to Coleman on opening weekend in September.

I think this is just competition for Colin Jones.  Jones doesn't really play safety ever and only plays on defense when we play the buffalo nickle package.  Maybe this guy can actually play safety and play special teams.  The loser of the competition probably won't make the team.
