Makes me think Stewie will get the same thing that CJ got this year. He'll be the last of Hurney's insane contracts on our books for next year. We know what happened to CJ's contract this month, and Kalil's contract is set to be voided next year like Harper and Cotchery's this year. Stewie will count $9.5 million in 2016 and $8.25 million in 2017 against the cap. If a top RB falls to us at #30, don't be shocked if we draft him to replace Stewie's contract

Gun to head I think we take Henry if he's there at 30, and there's a d@mn good chance Stew's a June 1 cut after that.

Would be far less shocking than the whitewashing that occurred after the 2013 season.  Obviously inking KK at that point would be a given, and would allow us to also absorb some major production and salary for someone else whether currently on the roster or in a trade.

Love what Stew did last year.  L O V E.  But there's a reason his deal was insane.  The chances he makes that cap number good value this year is very small.

Even if we draft Henry, Stewy ain't going anywhere this year. He earned this year with what how he played last year. Now next off-season? I would think Gman would love to CJ him. Cut him, then resign him at a reasonable price.

Stewy still has value to this team. The question is, can the two sides keep it together, and make each other happy? Is Stewy willing to do a CJ type deal? If he wants to be a Panther after this year, he may have to.

Different people and somewhat different situations but remember 2007-Keyshawn was literally gushing over our pick of Jarrett all over ESPN in real time, "great pick, great fit for "our team", can't wait to mentor him", etc...you see where I'm going with this.

Not saying it will happen but don't be surprised.  Nothing personal. strictly business, and despite his studness, Stew's cap hit for a RB is too high.

I agree that Stewy has a high cap hit. But we are 20m under the cap, so it isn't an albatross this year. Now next year? Yeah, something will have to be done. Will Stewy do a Cj? Or will he be gone. Stewy has gotten paid. Maybe he will do teh CJ thingy and sign a fair contract to allow him to retire a Panther. I like this option. Maybe CJ has started a trend?

We have Fozzy, CAP, and Wegher. Going to be interesting to see how this works out. Do we trust what we have? If so, we probably are not drafting a RB high. We did keep CAP, and Wegher on the roster all last year. So we obviously like them.

If however, we draft a RB high, chances are we may lose a couple of our kids. But, we would still have Stewy around to mentor the rook. Also, drafting a RB high, might signal that Stewy is not in the long term plans for Gman.

Ah hellz. I'm just confusing myself now.

No need to be confused, since no one knows what will happen, not even GMan.  What we do know is we're taking BOA.  Henry may be BPA, he may not be, but if he is, there's decisions to be made.

I think we'll grin and bear it with Stew's contract if need be, but there's both short and long term options available to us with that $$$ that GMan no doubt sees.

It's fun thinking about all these possibilities, isn't it? And that's just the RBs. Hope we're paying Gettleman enough. That's someone who has outperformed his contract. Thankfully, he'd never stay away from the team facilities and hold out for a new contract.

For this year? Stewy is still our best option. We have the cap space to cover him. He fits our system extremely well. And after last year? He deserves the chance to prove he can still be productive.

Now next year? That is going to be fun. Lots of implications.

IMO, Stewy and his contract are good this year. If he has another good year. Then next year we can hope to cut, then resign him like CJ did this year. Anyway. Lots of fodder for speculating.

A GM who is not only a great talent evaluator, but a film junky as well. He loves what he is doing. And right now he seems truly happy with where he is. Damm I hope when the time comes. He will train his successor personally. I love that the Gman tree has taken root here. Smart teams will be on the lookout for Gman disciples in the future.

Yupperz. We are in good hands right now. An owner who is committed to winning. A GM and Head Coach who see eye to eye. An MVP, HOF bound QB. The best LB combo on the planet. And a poo ton of young talent. Don't be jelly NFL. We waited a long time for this.
