FA nickel CB available

[Leeroy Jenkins PhD]

Just to throw a name out there.  Brandon Harris is still available in FA.  He is 26 and a former 2nd round draft pick by the Texans.  He plays primarily nickel.  He is coming off an ACL tear and would likely be signed very cheap.

 

He played at Miami and was a finalist for the Jim Thorpe 2 years in a row.  All ACC honors, academic honors, etc.  

 

Given our current CB situation. And let me remind you, we have 6 CBs on our team.  Norman, Bene, McClain, Young, Teddy Williams and some guy named Travell Dixon.   We obviously need competition here.  

 

Any other FA suggestions for nickel?

I thought you were going to say Brandon Boykin, who could also be an option. We literally don't have a starting nickel CB on the roster.

mmmm I like the sound of both of those- I do believe in the coaching staff's decision to move Bene to CB#2 spot full time.

Rotoworld seems to suggest Harris is still a Titan. Oh, and that he isn't very good.

He is coming off a torn ACL.  But, is an UFA.

Has Peanut for sure said he's not coming back?  Maybe waiting him out.

 

Either way, need to find a vet to take the role initially. Wouldn't surprise me at all if we're waiting to draft our nickel though, if they're serious about wanting Bene on the outside.

 

Norman, Bene, Vet/Rookie, Vet/Rookie, and then McClain and I'm happy with that group going into camp. Guys like Young and whatever UDFA we find can compete for the 5th spot with McClain.

Paul Soliai is 10'5" 1275 lbs, he plays both DT and Nickel at the same time.  Gettlemagic.

Brandon Boykin and Patrick Robinson are the two best nickel CBs left in FA. They are both very good. We won't get either, but one of them is the dream nickel CB signing.

Benwikere is going to get a shot at outside corner but I wouldn't be surprised if a vet CB was signed and he ended up playing nickel again.

I like it. He's never lived up to being a high draft pick but he's made an OK career for himself.

Other CB to be on the lookout for are Chiefs Marcus Cooper and Jets Darrin Walls.

The biggest obstacle with Tillman was how late in the year his injury occurred. Safe to assume at his age he won't recover as fast either.
