So, just how big a "Hog Molly" would you like?

Baylor 405-pounder LaQuan McGowan hand-timed at 5.5 in the 40 at Pro Day.

For perspective, that's actually faster than four O-linemen timed at the Combine, the heaviest of whom weighed in at 335 pounds.

OL 40 times at this year's Combine ranged from 4.94 to 5.58.

You mean, like his knees blowing out?

Read his college bio.  He didn't miss a single game due to injury.

Also notable: His degree is in kinesiology.

Now to be fair, Dan Morgan had a good injury history before playing in the NFL too, but Morgan was a full time starter.  Even in my wildest dreams, I could only see McGowan as a part time player.

One other note from his bio:

Quote

2010 first-team All-District 3-1A in three positions: offensive guard, defensive line and place-kicker.

A 400 pound kicker?

Oh, I am in awe of the dude.  What he does is absolutely amazing for his size.  But, do you really think his body could continue to hold up under all that weight?  I do agree that he could not play every down...

With the rigors of an NFL regimen?  Eeeehhhh...

I'd love to give him a shot, but I'd do so with low expectations.

Incredibly tantalizing to add a guy that big to the squad, but at the very least his knees would have a short shelf-life in the NFL, a guy that big has a really tough time in PT for a knee/foot injury, even a seemingly minor one might take a while longer for him.  But having said that, he is a really good athlete for a guy his size.

I love the story!  I love the sheer athleticism for a man his size.  It's remarkable.  But what is his pro position?  Do you ask him to slim down to protect his lower body?

I mean, he'd be a great 3rd tackle at his size, but I'm not sure how much work you can get out of him at his size and the pressures on his legs.  I can just see him thundering down the field, blowing tacklers off, but it just takes one bad shot at his ankles to ruin it for him.

He'd be a fun TC and preseason story.  Just have him do those one handed catches all day...sheesh..
