What Positions need a Vet answer for us right now??

WOW!!

My top 5 in no particular order.

OT - Actually the only position on offense I think left to be filled. We're returning every QB, RB/FB, TE, and only switching out Cotchery for Benjamin at WR. That leaves the OL, where we're returning 7/8 of our season-ending rotation (Velasco). We also added a 5th interior lineman in Gradkowski, so a 4th tackle seems to be all that's missing.

DE - We can certainly get by with our current lineup, hell it's the same 4 guys we started last year with plus a promising young player in Delaire. This position may be better addressed in the draft, but another vet to push Horton/Delaire definitely couldn't hurt.

3T - This actually may be number 1 for me. Soliai gives us a solid Love replacement at 1T, but we really need another 3T after cutting Dwan. Another position that could be addressed in the draft - and the DT class is loaded - but more bodies are needed regardless.

NB - With Bene moving outside, and Finnegan likely back to retirement, I'd like to bring in a vet at nickel. Some have speculated we'd play McClain here, but it's worth noting we originally passed on him at nickel and only signed him when we needed help on the outside.

SS - Probably the only starting spot that is still vacant. Does Coleman move over with Boston taking over FS? Maybe, but I'm not totally sold on Tre just yet. I like Marlowe too, but he and Colin Jones are all we have behind Coleman/Boston.

I think Boston is very capable of starting.  Will he make mistakes?  Absolutely, but I'd be willing to give him a shot at keeping the starting spot.  We should get some veteran depth should things go badly or there's an injury.  What we might lose in tackling from Harper (as a pure in the box safety) we will gain in coverage and ball hawking skills that Boston has..

Nobody thinks Boston could start at SS?

Boston frightens me. He gives up way too many big plays. He makes a fair share of huge plays himself to mitigate that, but that is really something I don't want from a safety which is the last line of defense. If he makes a mistake it's often a TD. If a CB or LB makes a mistake by jumping a route then it's usually just a big gain. I can deal with a gambler at some positions but safety really isn't one of those.

I was hoping I'd never hear the name Colin Jones so thanks for bringing up memories of the most awful punt coverage ever seen by Jones.  I agree on Tre Boston, he hasn't shown that he's anywhere near being an NFL starter to this point.

The secondary is in need of a veteran CB or S. First priority should be a safety, I know our CB depth is a little thin with players but I think Boston will get some vet competition before the draft. A nickel CB would also be needed but I think DG waits for June cuts before he adds a CB.

I see what you mean now.
