Used car warranties

Bought my first used car today and was curious for some opinions on the used car warranty. 

Anybody get one?  

i bought a truck that I'll probably only put about 10,000 miles on a year. The truck is 9,000 miles away from the manufacturer warranty and has the 100,000 powertrain. 

The extended warranty would be for 4 years or 48,000 miles. 

The truck is a GMC Sierra if that matters at all. I know dependability is always a question with these things.

I got 100,000 miles warranty once... Had no issues until 101,000 miles...  Then they discovered $5,000 worth issues.  Funny how it works.

They aren't really warranties, as much as rip offs.

They are service contracts.  If you want one, shop around.  Dealerships make a lot of money selling those....mark them up a lot.

Do some research with various mechanics and ask them about how often they see your particular model/make/year vehicle and ask them what the most common repairs are. If you run into a lot of issues with computers I know it can add up in a big hurry.
