Tolbert and CJ's contract information

Johnson: He signed a one-year deal worth $3 million that includes a maximum $1 million roster bonus -- $62,500 for every game he is on the game-day 46-man roster. He will count $2,562,500 against the 2016 salary cap.

Comment: Talk about bargains. Johnson was scheduled to count $15 million against the 2016 cap before the Panthers released him to clear $11 million in cap space. If he stays healthy and plays during the upcoming season like he did during the playoffs (3.0 sacks), he could be the bargain of free agency.

  • Tolbert: He signed a two-year deal worth $3.3 million with a $700,000 signing bonus. He will receive $9,735 for every game he is on the 46-man roster, with a maximum value of $150,000. That bonus goes to a maximum of $350,000 in 2017. He will count $1.450 million against the 2016 salary cap and $1.85 million against the 2017 cap.

Comment: Another bargain. Tolbert's 2015 cap value was $3.425 million, or about $2 million more than what he'll count this season.
