when he he retired did anyone else get the feeling that he just wanted to get the hell out of Detroit

imagine going through a grueling nfl season(which really is a 12 month ordeal) and not even making the playoffs. All that work and consistently losing. Getting your ass beat physically and mentally and not even winning takes its toll on you. 

 

all indications say that the man was just tired and didn't want to play anymore.

BUT if he wanted out for the opportunity to win the panthers are the optimal team to come to. We where the the team last year and he'd come to a team that is already fundamentally a contender.

 

he would be affordable too.. He was scheduled to make 11 mil last year, and that was after he restructured his massive 7yr/113mil contract.

the mans already been payed, so an 3yr/8-11mil contract doesn't seem too absurd.

 

i know it seems a little funky but a mansout should exceed his grasp

 

and to top it off if we made it happen before the draft we could focus on defense and we'd field the scariest team on both sides of the ball..

 

I hope DG sent a carrier pigeon or Hermes or a hogwarts owl to test the waters because why not?

Besides that, the Lions still own his rights. They won't just give those rights away.

He was force fed the ball for like 9 years. Double and triple teamed. He got beat the fug up on that big body. He's done. He's a smart guy, made his money, he's basically legendary, and may have saved himself from serious ramifications later on in life.

Dudes legs are falling apart. guys his size aren't meant to move at the speeds he does and his body took punishment for it. 

Also detroit still holds the rights to him and Barry sanders if either comes out of retirement.

When you retire like that, it's like putting the pause button on, we would have to trade for him, and work out a new contract.

A fun thought but everyone has already said why in reality it can't happen.

Just because you retire that doesn't free you up to go wherever you like or players would retire all the time to get out of bad situations.

When a player retires, then still own the rights to a the player if still under contract at the time of retirement. 

They can sell those rights, but that is very rare.

Megatron has been steadily falling apart.  It's easy to just blame the Lions, because it's the Lions, and what happened with Barry, but I really think his body just gave out and CJ is smart enough to quit and save his legs (and already made a good amount of money).   That size on those legs doing that all the time, is scary.  It's something we need to worry about with KB.

Im not as concerned with kb. They have the same height but kb seems to have a much thicker frame with natural weight grounding him.

Calvin seemed to be more like a dwight howard. Naturally tall and lanky, but built up a ton of muscle mass to play in the nfl.
