We won't need more than 5 million for our draft.

We'd have to get like 3-first round picks to need that much for our picks.

5-6 is more like the actual $ range.

i think we have enough for Coples but getting Charles back may mean we go for some more DB help.

I wouldn't be surprised to see us go all defense with our picks. We have Stew through 2018 and I think he has enough left to be effective throughout his contract.

Probably try and sign Short after the season and hope the cap jumps another 7-8 million so we can tag Josh again if his play continues as a lock-down corner.

We have s club option on Star for 2017 that I think we'll utilize.

i think Kalil's contract is up after next season and we may have already signed his replacement.

Keep in mind the Carryover from last year was $3,731,200   so that tells you  they are not going in to Fa spending  it all   , Then add in Draft pick & injury $$ that adds up fast  So op was not much off over all , Just worded incorrectly is all .

I asked a friggin question after I read this. If it is incorrect, then it is incorrect. Just correct the goddamn amounts without being Internet vigilantes.

Or just maybe you could spend about 5 minutes researching your question on the internet and have some actual numbers/facts before starting a thread and expect others to correct your post for you.

Just a thought.

Speaking of Cap Space....

I got all excited when I looked at Over the Cap for next year, and saw that we will have a bit over 76 million...

http://overthecap.com/salary-cap-space

Yes, I know there will be big hits for KK, Star, hopefully Josh, Norwell, Turner.... but, NICE right?!   Well.... not so fast.  That only covers 27 contracts (4th lowest in the league).  Only Broncos, Steelers & Seahawks have fewer players under contract for 2017 at the moment.

Oh well.   At least we're not the Seahawks.  They've got 44 million in Cap Space, with only 24 players under contract for 2017.

And, back to 2016 Cap Space:   Yeesh.  Denver.  Only 17 million.  No QB. and Von Miller contract needed (yes, I know he's tagged for this year, but still....)  Denver currently has only 51 players under contract.  The 2nd lowest in the league!  [For comparison: Panthers have 63 players under contract.] Ouch Denver.  Good luck with that, Elway.

I don't hate Denver, even with their SB win over us.  (Or perhaps better said, our loss to them, since we lost the game more than they won it.  Yes, their defense was really good, but we could have / should have won if we hadn't played our worst game of the season.)   But this goes to show that all the talk of how Denver showed that you can use free agency to win the super bowl is short-sighted.  Yes, they did sign key free agents who were a big part of getting them those SB rings.  But they could be a mess for the next few years because of it.  Hopefully Gettleman's slow and steady "build through the draft and don't over-pay for anyone" model of building the Panthers will result in a winning dynasty for the next 10 years.

where exactly did you get this 19+ million number for our cap space?

Both overthecap and spotrac have us at 21.4 million in cap space.

The official NFLPA number is just over 19.7M, though that hasn't been updated for Webb and Gradkowski. Those other sites aren't very reliable: Overthecap doesn't even list for Ras-I Dowling and Swayze Waters, and Spotrac is missing Bersin and Donald Hawkins. Plus they're using $0 cap hits for the guys whose salary details haven't been released yet. After all that the exact number is probably more like $17M.

Well, on the bright side, you would think Gettleman would at least have 4 players each from the next 2 drafts justify a roster spot for cheap so that'll bring 27 contracts to 35. Then some more fillers and we're in good shape to make some moves.

As much as I love Norwell and Turner, I'm in the belief that guards are fairly easy to find and should not break the bank over. I'm all for giving them good compensation but nowhere near what these guards are getting like Osemele.

Indeed.  I wasn't particularly worried.  Just trying to help keep perspective that we have a lot of players whose contracts end this season, so prudence with our FA signings is still needed, even though we do have cap space to work with this year and next.
