Why Weddle won't be a Panther

We need a SS not another FS. Unless people think Coleman doesn't deserve to start or think he is a SS.

I believe he has been pretty evenly split between both safety positions in his career.

Weddle to Raiders

According to the San Francisco Chronicle's Vic Tafur, the Raiders are "working on" free agent S Eric Weddle.

Tafur says he hasn't been able to confirm that Weddle will visit the team yet, but it sounds like a visit might be in the works. Aside from this news, Weddle's market has been silent nearing the 24-hour mark into the NFL's new league year, though the Panthers were rumored to have some interest late last week. Weddle, 31, and Reggie Nelson, 33, are free agency's top safeties left.

The meat of that post doesn't really justify a caption of "Weddle to Raiders".

At best you've got "Raiders trying to line up a visit with Weddle".

lol... Everyone have a price.

Charles Johnson and Mike Tolbert had 'prices' too.

Weddle has said he wants to play for a contender.  Plus he's already made a fair amount and is at the age where he might be thinking more about a ring than a paycheck.  His own comments have said as much.

Again, I don't know where he ends up, but I think it's a stretch to suggest it's a lock the Raiders will get him just because they want him and have cap space.

Raiders got more $$$... if they want him, they will pay him.

Will have to overpay if he doesn't want to be there...not only in the division with a couple really close friends in River and Gates, but really high income taxes as well.

I think that Weddle may be eyeing Carolina, Pitt, NE, etc...seems to want a shot at a ring.

Sorry but I could care less about the Chargers last year, but isn't Weddle an absolute malcontent that got himself suspended in the middle of a game for basically refusing to go back to the locker room?

Actually, the more I read up on Weddle the more I dislike his character. Skipping workouts, bitching about a contract extension to the point that the Chargers needed to put him on IR just to get rid of him.

So exactly why do we want this guy messing up our locker room again?

Yes he made $10m each of the last two years and was threatening to hold out. Not sure how people here think we can afford him and think it's worth the price.
