Why Weddle won't be a Panther

It seems to me that fans just want something to happen. Any addition to the team. The reality is that the Panthers don't value the safety position, it's the area we go cheap or old on, so we're not spending on Weddle.

I'm just not of the opinion a 31 year old safety is a top tier free agent. He would be a nice get at a reasonable contract.

Weddle would be a nice signing but it wouldn't be like say the Texans signed Cam Newton away from us. Gipson and Osweiler probably won't perform to their contracts, at the right price, Weddle will.

I'm kinda over it with Weddle. He's a good player but he muddies up the Safety group. If we sign a safety it needs to be a SS to compete with Boston or needs to be a FS back up for Coleman. Weddle is neither and just takes away from an established guy. We just don't really need him and while he might be an upgrade for Coleman it just isn't worth the trouble to me and goes against what we're trying to be about. I hope we draft one.

The point of my thread was that Weddle won't be a Panther because of what he'll get paid. I've believed this since the Weddle discussions first started. What prompted me to make the thread was seeing that his agent is also Vernon's agent. I believe the agent is a factor. You made it it known that you don't think he is, so instead of continuing an argument that was going nowhere I dropped it and stated other reasons.

He's the best safety available and one of the best in the league. If that's not top-tier then I don't know what is.
