That's why going rogue is the fastest way to level up. You get three times the xp.

I'd rather just grind it out, not to ruin someone elses time if I dont have too. plus you get much more gear grinding.

That's the thing, you don't have to take their stuff. You just kill them, go rogue, and survive the timer. Fast xp.

I admit, I havent done much exploring of the game, but can someone explain to me how the game works?  How do I level up?  I know a lot of people love it, but I've been obsessed with Madden Ultimate Team for the last 3 months, I finally got got on The Division yesterday and was unimpressed.  It was slow and monotonous...  i didn't know if i was online or what, it just had me meet up with the people in thr safe house and then go back out and do some dumbass tasks that really made no difference.

Where is the fun at?  I see everyone talking about the DZ and having to fight off other groups of players online, but i didn't see any of that.  Where should I start?

Oh, man, that's a broad question.  You might be better off Googling "where to start in The Division" or something.  However, I'll try to answer a little bit, but I just reached level 30 last week, so i don't know everything.

This is a grind-type of game, which means your going to be doing those missions that you think are slow and monotonous over and over again in order to rank up.  I, personally, don't think they are slow, but I can see how you would think they are at the beginning (especially if you haven't even gotten to Manhattan yet).  It speeds up and does get rather intense when you get flanked from two or three sides.  The only way you're going to rank up is by completing the main missions, side missions, and encounters.

You are always online, but you won't see other people until you go into the Dark Zone (in the middle of Manhattan).  If you go in there now, you're not going to like it lol.  You will get crushed.  There's different levels in the Dark Zone that are different from single player.  You'll only play against people around your Dark Zone skill level, but if you don't have gear, you're going to have a hard time...especially playing solo.

The game is going to take some time.  You have to work at it to get better gear and weapons.  Early on, the gear and weapons just drop when you kill the enemy.  Later on, and especially once you hit Rank 30, crafting will be the way to go in order to get good gear/weapons.  But in the end, you're still going to replay missions just to get bad gear and weapons that you can break down to create the higher-end ones.

If you're looking for something quick and easy, then this might not be the game for you.  You sort of have to change your mindset when playing a game like this.  It isn't Madden or Call of Duty where you see results quickly.

P.S. I still don't understand everything in this game, so if I didn't help, it's because there's a lot to do and understand.  You seriously might be better off Googling it.

The next patch will be glorious. I may stop playing until then. The dark zone is unbearable.

• May 24th release date
• New incursion clear sky
• New Gear sets, total of 4.
• New extraction system, you can now cut the rope of others extractions and steal their loot!
• New DZ rank zones. 200+ GS Dark Zone.
• New Search and Destroy Missions in PVE area. (for those that aren't so fond of the DZ)
• Revamping of Dropped loot. (Quality of Quantity basically.)
• Named Bosses have a chance to drop a sealed Cache that has to be extracted, inside of it is a mystery, but its guaranteed good loot. 
• various patches where people could cheat in the DZ. No more people going through walls and going man hunt without being able to be shot at. 

 

I can't wait for the update. They are finally fixing some of this game.

Until they fix the hacking Im pretty done.

 

Just got instagibbed by a guy that came around the corner and down half a block to collect my loot.  Twitch is full of assholes dropping 1mil sniper shots, blasting folks through buildings, dumping an SMG clip instantaneously, and teleporting across the map.

 

It was bad enough but the two weeks of bans are over today and its fuging stupid.

The bold is a terrible idea! it's hard enough to extract without getting your poo stolen as is, I was running with a group of randoms earlier today and I was the only person to extract when a group of LVL 99's came in and ass raped us as soon as the line dropped.  I popped my security OP and that was the only reason I ectracted everyone else got fuged.

I'm really hating that I spent $100 on this piece of crap right now, I've been continuing to play occasionally to see if it gets better at some point but I'm just about done, but I spent $100 on it and cant cut my losses yet, but I'm running out of things to do, DZ included

Pve area is also getting a lift and will be another source for high end gear and gear sets. 

 

They're catering to the rogues for sure tho.
