It appears we were in on Jared Cook, TE, at some point who signed with the Packers today. It lends some credence to the thought that we are looking to upgrade the TE2 position. He would have been a slight upgrade over Dickson, but he has major drop problems. He's basically the Ted Ginn of TEs so he might have excelled here.

What type of deal does DG give Boykin? And if it's more than a 1-2 year deal how does that affect the draft, If at all? Because I feel Boykin could be a long term answer for the slot position.

2-3 years for $3-4M per year seems like what his market should be. Casey Hayward and Jeremy Lane both got around $5M per year as nickel CBs and Boykin is in less demand than they were. $3M would be Gettlemagic, $4M would be about right for him and $5M would be a slight overpay.

The Jared Cook news is interesting...and may give some major credence to Jeremy mocking Hunter Henry to us.

Yeah, I would've thought  that we'd have picked up a relatively c heap upgrade, but I guess not. I didn't even realize Marcedes Lewis had re-signed (who was my last hope as far as FA is concerned).

I don't know what it is with Gettleman, it's like he is a butter-hands magnet.

Yes, agree it's VERY interesting to have it confirmed we could be in the market for a tight end.

I was very struck by a comment DG made in a recent press session - maybe it was at the Combine.  He said something about how last offseason one of his big fears was that something could happen to KB, and what would the team do.  That explained his willingness to trade up and grab Funchess.

I've been thinking that we don't really have an adequate backup for Greg should, God forbid, he have to miss a number of games.  Given his age, it's something you have to begin to think about and finding a new TE to train up alongside Greg seems like it could now be a priority.

So, no, I wouldn't be surprised by us taking a TE in the upcoming draft.  Not at all.

The Packers are "poking" around the FA RBs. They may have an interest in Ronnie Hillman.
