But don't we still have like 20 spots on the roster to fill? Or will we just fill those with JAGS and camp bodies?

You have to account for 6 draft picks and 10ish UDFAs. The rest will be filled out with vets in FA in the next couple weeks.

Teams don't usually sign 20 players during free agency, Dave averages around 8 outside signings. Now, we've already signed 3 (Waters, Gradkowski, and Soliai) and those other years we weren't bringing back so many of our own.

He also brings in (almost exactly) 16 rookies after the draft, so add that to our current roster size of 69 and we've really only got 5 more openings. Those would bring his total outside signings back to his average of 8.

I'm so glad you did the math so I didn't have to haha!

I seem to remember people talking about it being a pretty weak free agent class this year. Just because a player is one of the best players available in this free agency class doesn't mean he's a superstar player.  I don't know, I'm not too bothered by Dave not overpaying for a bunch of average players other teams didn't want.

We've actually signed/re-signed 12 players this far, making us one of the more active teams.

Every year people make this dumb comment and every year they end up regretting doing it the season after "we've resigned our core! That wins us the Strong Principles Bowl!"

Yeah, there's sure an awful lot to regret about last season.  Wish we'd had our best record ever and made it to the Super Bo...wait.

If you look at previous tmelines, this offseason is laying out pretty much the same as prior ones under gettleman.  And given that we've gotten three straight division title / playoff appearances and a Super Bowl appearance out of those offseasons, I'm not worried.

Yet some folks still wanna be impatient...

I'll take a dumb comment every year over a dumb comment every few hours.

Yeah you're right I am so glad we reached the ultimate goal with 30 other teams of not winning the super bowl.

In fact if i recall, we lost to a team that is less concerned proudly boasting how much money they gave to average players because they were *gasp* homegrown rather than acquiring upgrades from *eeek* other teams. I sure would hate to be a super bowl champion. In fact let's spend the next ten years boasting teams how we made it to the big game that one time, years ago

Can anyone recall a big free agent signing that the Panthers have made since the 90s? Kevin Greene and Eric Davis were big signings in 1996 then there was obviously the Sean Gilbert disaster but I don't know of one since then. There was Olsen but that was a trade and there have been name signings like Keyshawn, Shockey, Tillman and Oher but none of those guys were highly sought after at the time we brought them in. Stephen Davis and Ken Lucas maybe? Anyone else?

Reggie White in name. I'd say Davis and Lucas for sure. Then the Olsen trade (not FA). Idk that Tolbert was "big" but I was pretty pumped when we landed him.

Oh look, it's that time of the month for Growly.

Oh look, its another atrocious post by Promethean fauxrunner that's like 10,492 consecutive

Tell us more about your brilliant thesis on why the colors on a collegiate uniform affect players when they reach the NFL while you're here
