Hardy could have chosen to fight going on the exempt list, but he was on board with it.

Once he was on the list, he still could have shown up to support his teammates.  Instead, he treated it like a paid vacation.

He's not coming back.

Come on.  Let's be real.  Fighting after that fugging elevator video came out?  He had no choice nor did the Panthers.  We were ramrodded.

Bears trade TE Martellus Bennett to the Cheatriots with the Bears 6th round pick for the Cheatriots 4th round pick

I feel strange about the Bears making a trade without us, especially for a TE. Also, I guess since the Cheatriots can't find an outside receiver, they're going back to the two TE set. Gronk and Hernandez drove that offense before Hernandez murdered that guy.

Saints agreed to terms with LB James Laurinaitis, formerly of the Rams.

Although Laurinaitis put up gaudy "tackle" stats in St. Louis, he's long been one of the most overrated players in the league. He finished 59th among 60 qualified inside linebackers in Pro Football Focus' 2015 grades, and dead last against the run. Still only 29 years old, Laurinaitis would be best viewed as veteran depth in New Orleans. The Saints' linebacker corps is weak enough, however, that Laurinaitis will probably be given a legitimate chance to start.

Patriots signed LB Shea McClellin, formerly of the Bears, to a three-year contract.

The 19th overall pick in the 2012 draft, McClellin never found a home in Chicago, shuffling between defensive end and outside linebacker to eventually inside linebacker in 2015. He was a below-league-average starter on the inside last year with the Bears. McClellin is still only 26 years old, and the Patriots have a knack for maximizing players' strengths and minimizing their weaknesses. Following the retirement of Jerod Mayo, McClellin could find himself in the mix to start at middle linebacker between SLB Jamie Collins and WLB Dont'a Hightower.

Not that I'm complaining and I trust Gettleman completely, but this feels like the slowest FA period I've ever experienced with the Panthers.  We literally aren't interested in anyone it seems.  Unless Getts surprises us and just has a flurry of moves up his sleeve like Belicheck..we have been linked to two DTs, one who retired, one signed and that's it.   Obviously I'm talking outside help, I don't count CJ although it was a great signing.

But don't we still have like 20 spots on the roster to fill? Or will we just fill those with JAGS and camp bodies?

Teams don't usually sign 20 players during free agency, Dave averages around 8 outside signings. Now, we've already signed 3 (Waters, Gradkowski, and Soliai) and those other years we weren't bringing back so many of our own.

He also brings in (almost exactly) 16 rookies after the draft, so add that to our current roster size of 69 and we've really only got 5 more openings. Those would bring his total outside signings back to his average of 8.
