Jags have signed Kelvin Beachum. Ranked third in pass blocking efficiency in 2014 and only allowed six pressures in six starts in 2015. He's a talented left tackle and could certainly beat out Luke Joeckel, their former second overall pick for the starting left tackle position on their team. Granted Joeckel hasn't been terrible for them, he's been average, but I wonder if the Jags will be looking to trade Joeckel this off season?

Would it be worth throwing a mid round pick or a couple of mid round picks their way? Try and tempt them to let him go and bring him here. I doubt that will happen, but it could be an option to address the tackle position with a young player needing to kick on. If we can get Oher playing to a good level, I'd like to see what our staff could do with a former second overall player.

Oher had a toe injury and we were smart enough to know that he was gonna be healed from it.

Joeckel on the other hand might have just been drafted too high.  Would not be in favor of losing a pick for him

From what I gathered about Oher, his performances declined each season in Baltimore, and he failed to live upto a contract in Tennessee. Apparently other than his rookie season which he got a positive grade, his grades via PFF have been negative before he came here. He's obviously got the ability to start in this league, but he came out of the bargain bin and our coaching staff helped revive his career.

I would tend to agree that Joeckel seems to have been over drafted, but his performances have simply been average, not second overall type performances. I'd just like to see what our coaching staff could do with someone that went second overall like Joeckel. Maybe he wouldn't be an upgrade, but if he becomes available for trade, if the price is right I wouldn't mind is bringing him over.

Interesting Note: Speculation is that Reggie Nelson's age is scaring teams away.

Nelson is 32, the same age as Paul Soliai. Both will be 33 by season's end.

In case you're wondering, Roman Harper was just a shade over 31 when the Panthers signed him.

Bill got 100% robbed. Unless Jones is one failed test away form suspension. Even then it's more than worth it, Jones is a freak

Remember, Jones was the guy who showed up at the police station whacked out on drugs. Bill gets a 2nd rounder for a guy they were probably gonna let walk anyway in a year. Think about it like if gman teaded hardy before his incident. Im sure in house we knew hardy was on the edge, signs were clearly there. Plus they get another 3rd as a comp pick. Bill aint stupid.

Yep I remember that. Jones was coming form a gonk party....in which they just picked up his option. Jones is just so high(no pun intended) on my list of players. I mean after jjwatt, vmiller, jones is in the discussion.

Bill is the greatest of all-time, got Moss for 4th....but here he got hosed IMO. I know they have others to sign and Jones agent may have wanted 17+ per year. Still rare to see bill get hosed.

It does sound kinda crazy looking at the players talentwise, Jones is a talent while Coop struggled in zona and was getting shifted to C, that likely wasn't gonna work too well imo. Obviouly other factors at play on both sides. If Chandlers incident was a once off and he learnd a valuable lesson you could well be right. But how often does that really happen? Jarred Allen was one of the few, you tend to see more repeat offenders like Alexander.

Patriots signed DE Chris Long, formerly of the Rams, to a one-year contract.

It made too much sense after the Patriots shipped RE Chandler Jones to the Cardinals via trade on Tuesday. Long will step in and fill the roster void, though we're not going to ink him into a starting spot just yet. Long hasn't put much good tape on film the past two years as he's battled injuries, and he turns 31 later this month. Still, it's a fine landing spot for Long, who's determined to breathe life back into his career. Long has 54.5 career sacks in 114 games.

Sweet!  Was concerned they'd sign The Kraken.  I did not want Long.

What it means for New England: The Patriots clearly lost faith in Jones, who is heading into the final year of his contract. A bizarre incident in January, where Jones showed up to a police station shirtless and allegedly high on synthetic marijuana, likely hurt his standing with the Pats, who have PFF College-favorite Trey Flowers waiting in the wings to get more playing time in his second year. The Patriots get a second-round pick in return, allowing them the flexibility to move up in the draft and select a player higher than the 60th pick they currently occupy; they also get to take a stab at reclaiming Cooper, a player they were apparently high on when he was coming out of North Carolina in 2013.

Cooper lost a year of his career to injury, and has been below-average at best when on the field. He surrendered 22 total pressures and was even benched in favor of Ted Larsen last season. The Patriots had a poor O-line last season (ranked 25th), so they will be hoping they can unearth the potential Cooper flashed that made him such a highly-touted prospect.

Grade for New England: C+

What it means for Arizona: The Cardinals likely wanted to get rid of Cooper as little more than a salary dump, as they were in the process of moving him to center to try and find a position they believed him to be viable at.

The more important part of the trade, from Arizona’s point of view, is sending a second-round pick to New England in exchange for Chandler Jones. In the Patriots’ multiple fronts, Jones has been moved to several different positions, and the only one he has really struggled at was 3-4 defensive end.

If the Cardinals want to employ him as a stout edge defender, he is more than capable of repaying them with significant pressure and an impressive run-defense grade. Last season, he totaled 62 defensive pressures, which is a marked improvement over anybody on the Arizona roster. Rookie Markus Golden showed well for them in his first season, and could potentially form a nice pair of edge defenders for a team that has been struggling to find pass-rush on the perimeter for some time.

Grade for Arizona: B
