Take out $5M for Gettleman's in-season buffer money then another $1.7M for the rookie pool($4.4M - (6 * $450k)) and $1M for Webb and we have around $12M in cap space to spend this offseason.

If you then assume we will extend Kawann, which would likely increase his cap hit by $4-6M then it's probably more like $7M.

That's really only enough for 1-2 mid-tier players.

The thing is we don't need that much money for all of the home-town discounts that people will give us. Vet minimum for Percy Harvin, Mike Wallace, Dewayne Bowe then trade a couple of firsts for deshaun Jackson and hakeem nicks and josh Gordon. We would be set. You simply cannot stop a team that has 8 or 9 receivers that used to be good on Madden.

Says something that all of the Panthers beat writers went to Clemson's pro day rather than be in Charlotte on the 2nd day of free agency. Both Jones and Person are there. You'd figure the Observer would leave one home if there was even the slightest chance of anything happening today.

This would've been the one time having two of them would make sense, welp.

#Browns, #Browns, #Jets in on a potential Colin Kaepernick trade. Big difference in where their 2nd round picks are: Denver's much later

As for the Jets, QB Ryan Fitzpatrick knows where they stand. Their offer is a little better than what Chase Daniel got in Philly.

---------------

Chase Daniel signed a 3 year, $21,000,000 contract with the Philadelphia Eagles, including a $6,000,000 signing bonus, $12,000,000 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $7,000,000. In 2016,

Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports that the Browns did not waive QB Johnny Manziel at the start of the new league year because they holding out for the possibility that a team may be willing to trade a conditional late-round pick for him.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Manish Mehta is reporting that free agent WR Rod Streater is visiting the Jets on Friday.

This comes after Terez A. Paylor of the Kansas City Star reported that Streater is may be planning some visits to some East Coast teams. According to Paylor, the Chiefs have expressed interest in him.

According to Klis, Anderson was sitting at the San Francisco Airport from 3 p.m. mountain time until 11:30 p.m. until the Dolphins managed to secure the opportunity to meet with him.

Interestingly enough, Anderson was reportedly scheduled to fly to Chicago for a visit with John Fox and the Bears before the Dolphins called and managed to prevent this from happening.

Klis expects the Dolphins to sign him to an offer sheet on Thursday.

Hue Jackson has reportedly loved Kaepernick since he was drafted so that explains the Browns interest. I have no clue why the Jets are in on that. I'd choose Geno on a rookie deal over Kaepernick plus his contract and losing draft picks if Fitzpatrick left. I'd probably choose Geno over Kap straight up to be honest. The other stuff just makes it a no brainer.

So Broncos, Jets, and Browns in on Kaepernick.

Would Denver be the best result for us? That would keep at least 3 QB-needy teams ahead of us (NYJ, CLE, and SF) which would increase the likelihood of better talents falling.

The flipside to that argument, though, is that if he ends up in New York or Cleveland then a team may be willing to trade up to 30 to get in from of Denver for a QB that may fall.

I'm betting whoever gets Kaep will reap the benefits this coming season. There's something about his fall from grace that just makes me think it was bad coaching and resentment over a really bad contract that dropped him so far. Give him a new home, the starter's spot and renegotiate that contract to benefit all involved and you've got something.

I think he'd do great on any of those three teams but the Browns offer the greatest chance at becoming a hero... something like Brees did in New Orleans.

The Jets are signing ex-Saints RB Khiry Robinson, per sources. Potentially nice piece to pair with fellow newcomer Matt Forte.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the Jets are re-signing RB Bilal Powell.
