The Chiefs have quietly had a very nice day.

Except for that whole getting docked 2 draft picks thing I agree. Several solid moves and re-signs. If they can somehow keep Smith then they will be in great shape. Schwartz for 6.5 is great business.

Falcons sign DE Derrick Shelby

Details: Four-year, $18 million deal. Shelby, a former undrafted free agent with the Dolphins, has developed into a solid lineman and still has room to grow at age 27, but he’s not the kind of difference-maker the Falcons need up front. He’s a good player to have, and he can play outside and then kick inside in sub packages—maybe that’s enough for Atlanta. Grade: C

Holy fug, our contract extensions from last year and our resignings this year look like absolute steals right now.  Brock getting 18 mil a year after starting what, 7 games? Fleener getting 36 mil? Philly paying a backup QB 7 mil a year? At least backing up Glass Legs Bradford will almost guarantee some starter action. When did the league start treating real life like a game of fuging Madden?

Good GMs don't try to make splash moves on the first few days

There have been a few good value signings today. Not many and they've been drowned out heavily by the crazy money deals, but there is value to be found if you're prudent.

I really like Rishard Matthews, good get for Tennessee.

Especially given his other options were Seattle and NE. I'm glad we aren't in the WR market at all. It's ridiculous and I'm really enjoying watching Pats fans freak out about not getting anyone because everyone is so expensive.
