Brock Osweiler to Texans

Only real reason this sparks my interest is regarding my topic about where player contracts are heading. If Brock Osweiler is getting $18M per, what is Cam Newton reigning MVP worth? because Cam's Contract comes out to about $21m per($19m in 2016) so Cam is only worht $1-3M more a year than a guy who had 7 decent games?  Now I would be the first to say that Houston WAY OVER PAID. but yeah, expect a restructure for Cam if he has a similar MVP caliber year next year.

I'm honestly not expecting anything of the sort. With Cam's endorsement deals and how bad this guy wants to win. I just expect an extension after the 4th year of this 5 year contract. 

This dude is gonna be like manning and brady. Taking some pay cuts to help the team. And I don't think we've been given any reason to think otherwise. 

 

As as for the Brock contract? It's absolutely absurd and everyone and their mother knows it.

I'm sure it's been said multiple times in this thread already, but praise Gettleman for getting Cam inked last season, because if the likes of Osweiler are getting 18 million a year, Cam's contract might just be the best value in the league right now!

All these guys laughing at denver... A month after they beat us in the superbowl. Welcome to the Carolina huddle. I highly doubt Denver or their fans are worried about possibly having to rebuild after winning it all. They did the right thing by not overpaying a guy they know isn't worth that money.

I swear some people here have no damn sense at all. I hope we win it all next year obviously. I'm just worried when we do, some of you guys will be hellbent on making us look like another garbage ass Seahawks fanbase. Just look at how we are talking about the team that took the trophy from us.

ps. Blaming the refs for the asskicking we took is what a 5-year-old would do. I hope our players are focused on fixing the problems and mistakes we made rather than blaming the refs so we get it right next time. Rant over.

A Super Bowl winning defense that's getting picked apart in free agency, no quarterback and a franchise player who's about to get paid a contract that's going to take a significant portion of the salary cap to cover.

I might not be worried, but I'd at least be a little concerned.

The Broncs might wind up being like the Saints, i.e. throw everything into one year, win and then fall back to earth for a long time to come. Only difference is the Saints had their quarterback locked up when they did that. The Broncos, not so much.

Yeah, having that trophy would be nice, but I've never been a fan of the whole "okay with sucking for years as long as we win one championship" model. I'd much rather build a team that can be a contender year in and year out.

Yeah, I don't see Newton as a guy who's going to come in and hold the team hostage because somebody else got paid.

Osweiler got paid more than he is really worth because the Texans feel that with a qb who is simply adequate, and a few tweaks in other areas, they could do as well as the Broncos did this year. 

 

Regarding Cam's contract vs Brock's, I don't think they are as close as they appear to be.  if I read it right, Cam's guaranteed money is significantly higher over the length of the contract than Brock's, 60 million vs 37 million.

Payton is not going to be there to get them all that ref help. Media will be talking about the fall of Denver this year and kub will probably get fired.

Lol Broncos didn't really overpay. 18 mil is the going rate for tier 2 QBs. Worst case is Brock is as good as early Schaub in Huston, and IMO his ceiling is a poor man's Flacco.  Which is nothing to sneeze about. And he's in a similar situation as he was in Denver. Elite WR, Elite Defense. He'll probably have a better running game than he did in Denver, Lamar Miller is a very underated HB.

 

He played inconsistent, but he got better every week. "But he got pulled after throwing two ints in week 17!" Yeah, and neither were really his fault. First one was off Sanders hands, second one his arm got hit. Kubiak was probably moreso pressured to put Peyton in for any real reason that game. He'll be fine in Huston. He'll be better than Cousins in any case.

 

And losing to the Raiders isn't a bad thing anymore. Has anyone seen them play this year? Carr is not his brother, Cooper is the real deal and Kalil Macknis terrifying.

Anyway fug the Broncos. I don't hate them but hate how they admitted they got away with BS in the super bowl. A million fugs uoon your head.
