Brock Osweiler to Texans

4 years, $72 million.

Wow

This is the craziest offseason ever. Oswelier has 11 career touchdowns in the four seasons he's been in the league. He had a 5-3 record in 2015 behind the best defense in the league and with some of the best receivers in the league as his supporting cast. One of those losses was to Oakland.

Somehow that is worth $18 million per year.

It's disgusting how much money desperate teams throw at some of these Qbs.       Brock has 7 starts under his belt,  and in most of those starts,  he looked "eh"...  but,   he's worth $18M/yr?

fug me,   If I was in charge of the Texans,  I'd offer up a 3rd round pick to the Bucs for Glennon,  and try to get him for around $7M/yr..         I view Glennon and Brock as the same tier of qb.  The only difference being,   Brock has the undeserved hype.

I agree with most of the above.

Seeing Brock first hand this year, he's shown nothing more than a Schaub, Hoyer, Glennon, Stanton, hell...I'd take Fitzpatrick or Shaun Hill (back in the day) over what I've seen out of Brock.  Even guys like Keenum or McGloin seem less hesitant on-the-field and more promising than the kid.  Not trying to bash but he was really shaky out there at times and clearly out of his league.  This is like paying JP Losman in 2005 like a top-15 QB.

Maybe he proves people wrong but that is an absurd contract.  When the Skins make a move like they did with Kirk then the Texans go out and do this, it makes H-town look worse than Miami/Cleveland/DC combined.

Kubiak has always had problems coaching teams to winning records with shaky QB situations & his QB decisions have sucked. Reference the early Texans. Matt Schaub was his decision. Manning being in Denver last year was his first & only stable QB situation ever & that was thanks to Elway. I don't expect the Broncos to sniff the playoffs this year or even for awhile. I expect Kansas City to fill that void.

A good article about how a team's (GM's & HC's) attitude & approach really does affect players' decisions in FA. Opposite of how the Panthers FO operates. I doubt, too, that their locker room was as "good" as they claimed. Denver 'screwed the pooch' as they say.

The money mattered. The opportunity mattered. The commitment mattered. But the Denver Broncos shouldn't be masking reality. Two other things mattered to now-departed quarterback Brock Osweiler as well: a late-season benching and the team putting an offer on hold while it waited for Peyton Manning to make a decision about his future.

In the hindsight of the past two weeks, those developments, along with high-level quarterback money, are the lessons that reveal why Osweiler is now a Houston Texan while the Broncos are scrambling for options behind center. It's a harsh thorn in Denver's future plans, scuttling a four-year design that was ultimately put in place when the team drafted Osweiler in the second round of the 2012 draft.
