Just looked up Swayze Water's stats in the CFL. Averaged around 48 yards per punt the last two seasons, and had an 80 yard punt each of the past 3.

The real story here should be how dumb and dumber over at the observer couldn't even get a scoop on the no name punter leaving. It's that bad. Eisen doesn't really break a lot of news, does he? especially with FA?

Yards per punt is hardly helpful when discussing a punter.  Nortman was good a booming the ball 2 years ago.  But the Panthers gave up way too many big plays because he always out kicked his coverage.  The reason Nortman was shanking some the last few years is because the Panthers tried to get him to use hangtime instead of going for distance.

Eisen has a thing for punters. I'm sure he asked all the NFLN guys to feed him any punter news so he could break it and they agreed because it's not a big deal because punters and it's funny for him.

Nortman wasn't anything special. I'm happy that we offered him a minimum deal and let him walk when he got offered more.

Let the Jags pay him $8.8 million, we'll get someone for 500K that will be just as good.

He was more than just the punter, he was the holder for fg's too. Don't discount that. Best of luck to Nortman. I don't get why so many feel the need to trash a guy when he leaves.
