He made that the day Hurney gave him that deal. DG just did some restructuring of his contract and that's why it's dead money now. $5Mish is what's being reported so he basically just took a $6M pay cut which is pretty substantial considering how well he played in the playoffs.

Damn!

guys you aren't thinking clearly at all about the dead money....You realize what he was supposed to make BEFORE we cut him? a lot more than 5 million. The 5 million is money already spent. Gone. Goodbye 5 million. We never had a chance to get that money back.

We just signed a 29 year old defensive captain to a VERY team friendly deal to see if he has one more season left in him.

Oh and btw CJ was hurt all season and came "  " that close to changing the tide of the Superbowl.

Yea I'm more than ok with this

Charles Johnson to me: "It’s not about the money. Carolina is home and I wouldn’t have been happy if I went somewhere else.”

Charles Johnson added, “The #Giants are a 1st class organization, but now I have one more year to get back where I want to be, at home."

bahaha this is the most gettletastic thing i've ever heard. dump your large ass contract and make you come back on a prove-it deal, simultaneously clearing your salary, filling a free agent need, and stoking a fire under your performance.

amazing.
