Chargers signed safety Dwight Lowery to a 3 year deal, so looks like the odds of Weddle coming back to SD is very slim.

Oh, going back to SD was already at a 0% chance. They fined him for watching his daughter perform at halftime in week 16 then they IR'd him week 17 when he wasn't really injured and told him to go away. He despises the Chargers.

Oh well, let's see what Boston and Marlowe bring at SS.

Don't discount safety being the pick at 30 either.  GMan and RR have referenced draft trends in the past as being a part (amongst countless other things) of their decisions.  Take a gander at the late first/early second round safeties in recent years.  I would argue it's been better bang for the buck than any position.

Boston is young and has made some nice plays in the past. He deserves a shot to start. We all know our defense is predicated on the front 7 anyway. Weddle is only going to be a 2 year option for us anyway. If we're going to buy a safety they might as well be a long haul player.

We have young players who need a shot at SS and we already have a FS.  Weddle would have been nice, but we need to look at the bang for the buck.  We have NO depth at DT, but the draft is loaded at DT.  We have 3 veteran DEs and 3 developing DEs.  We seem to have a farm where we are growing WRs and we get Benji back.  At CB, we have Norman, Bene, and McCain at nickel--  So what do we really NEED in free agency?   Nothng really.

I think we should extend Kalil 2 years and KK. 5 years.

Draft DT, CB, S, TE (so we can cut Dickson), an OL, and possibly a P.

Play ball.

We need to bring in a CB in free agency more than any other position.  We brought guys in off the damn street last year.  Unless Lou Young is going to be getting a legit shot in the slot which in the FO mind he may, Gettleman will be bringing in a slot CB no question about it.

I agree, Brent Grimes please.
