Mike McCoy criticism

Wasn't McCoy the same guy that got a rookie quarterback ready to play in a week after Moore missed all of training camp and the preseason? Didn't he pare down the playbook and guide him through the games and help him win 2 out of 3?

Just wondering??

that's the one. :(

So you're willing to give McCoy credit for those wins, but not Moore (see other thread)?

Of course he gets credit for winning those games with half a gameplan. That still limits the offense and is a step backwards. I would rather have Jake running a full strength offense rather than feeley or Moore running a few plays.

Obviously I am in the minority but that's my preference.

I always thought McCoy was criticized way too much by Panther fans.

Also, I think a lot of the pressure should be on Jeff Davidson right now. He needs to call some shorter passes, including screens, to keep the defense off of Delhomme and allow him to build his confidence back up. I'll say it again...you can't keep calling pass plays that take 5 seconds to develop when your QB is getting killed, you just can't do it.

You know, when you think about it, this all should be painfully obvious. You had a quarterback who wasn't the most physically gifted to begin with. He injures his elbow...Tommy John surgery. Why didn't we all see this coming? Maybe the question shouldn't have been "Can he make it back?" but rather "Why try?" Seriously.

Elbow surgery for a QB is like knee or ankle surgery for an RB. He's got to feel that throw as if nothing ever happened to his elbow before.

"Elbow surgery for a QB is like knee or ankle surgery for an RB. He's got to feel that throw as if nothing ever happened to his elbow before."

Point well taken,it's a tribute to Jake and the surgeon that he has gotten this far.

agreed and what's crazy is how obvious this should be..

The more I think back to Sunday, the more I feel the coaching staff, yet again, was who got beat...

Your post being one example.. the other obvious is if you aren't able to stop the number of guys rushing the passer, then put more people on the line to stop them... I'm not talking anything extreme... just the number of guys rushing should equal the number of guys protecting, at the very least. If that isn't working, then I would say add more people at the line to protect..

How did Mike McCoy's quarterback do on Sunday? That would be Denver and Kyle Orton. He had a quarterback rating of 100 which is 25 points above his rating last year. I don't imagine that McCoy had anything to do with it.

Food for thought if he keeps doing well.

There's a lot more to a quarterback's performance than his quarterback coach (i.e. gameplan, his receivers, fluke catches, etc.), but you make a good point.
