REPORT: Panthers to re-sign WR Stephen Hill and T Mike Remmers

I am very interested in the to see how much Hill has improved.  Ricky Proehl said during the season that it was too bad Hill got hurt because he has progressed really well.  Now whether he was saying that so you do put a man down when he is already down or he really progressed.

Can you imagine his speed and height with KB and Funchess.  Talking about Redwood trees at receiving.

I am glad they plan on signing Remmers too.  He had a rough SB but did very well for 18 games.

Go Panthers

All moves so far I like. Let's see what we do in free agency w guys not already on our team.

That said, trading picks ain't gonna happen imo. This is the first year GMan hasn't needed to find talent at all costs. We've got money to spend on players hitting the market without needing to plug a poo ton of holes by way of trading draft picks. Our cap situation will help tremendously with our draft. This is of course assuming Short and Star deals are a year or two away.

Anyone think we'll try and rollover cap space for Short/Star? Could affect our willingness to spend a ton in the FA market.

I like the idea of bringing Hill back...you can't teach speed as they say...and his drop problem isn't any worse than Ginn, Brown or even Cotchery (who isn't on the team as of now)

This isn't accurate, at least not from his past.

I think this is a problem with many receivers that have speed.  They are so anxious to turn the jets on that they forget to catch the ball.   Hill, Ginn and Brown all have quality speed but drop the ball.    But IMO his past has nothing to do with it.

Honestly I think he will be something they thought he would be back when the Jets drafted him.  You hated to see him get hurt but I can only think that helped him work on his focus.  Catching the ball then run.

That's what I was referring to. The only difference to me is Hill just has more height and therefore a bigger catching  radius...which helps Cam

He can't catch the damn ball.  If he could he wouldn't be on anyone's practice squad, he would still be in New York, where he would have just played out his final year of his rookie deal, and would be getting an extension, or hitting free agency.

All of our WR's have better hands than Hill.  I would love to see that change, but that's not typically something that gets too much better once in the pros.

If that were the case I think the 2 yr experiment would be over.  We are signing him to another year.  Whether he makes it is anyone's guess.  BUT, if he wasn't improving like RP mentioned during the season about him and KB then I would think this was the perfect time to cut him loose.

I am banking on RP not what he did or didn't do in NYJ.

We shall see, I want to see the details of the contract.

If Remmers is your problem on the O-line, then you really don't have much of a problem. If we went into next year with him as starting RT, I wouldn't bat an eye or worry like I have in the past. He's above average to good, and that's rarer to find than you'd think at this level of play.

hallelujah!

Even as a backup (T,G & C), he's well worth $2.5 million.
